They say cats have nine lives, but so far gaksital seems to have hundreds. I lost count of how many times Gaksital was almost caught, but made it out ok – relatively unscathed for the most part since he is still walking around. I factored in all the help he is getting from others, but now that we are nearing E22, I just realized he is going to run out of allies sooner or later. The biggest one so far is H cuz she has been keeping his secret and I really don’t want her to become just another collateral damage. I hope she means more to him than that and if she has to make a sacrifice for him, I hope it affects him to his core. At least then, her love for him was justified.

OMG in the preview, it looks like H is in danger – not from herself and her emotions, but from S.

Bridal Mask E20

Suddenly this drama has more meaning and made me sit up and take notice and I am sure it’s cuz I am a woman. Now I am fully invested in what Gaksital is doing and I almost leaped out of my chair to cheer him on. 20 episodes later and I finally get why this guy is so important. What he did tonight made him more of a hero in my eyes than anything else he has done so far. I feel like I just watched a whole different drama. This is going to end up being the best episode yet cuz it tugs at your heart in a way most of us never knew it could.

Murayama is furious at the police failure to transport the comfort women. When he realises that Kangto was missing during the transport operation, he mercilessly steps on Kangto. Shunji thinks that it is odd how Kangto is just enduring the endless scorn and injustice of the police station. He goes to find Lala and wants and exact account of her losing Gaksital and figures there is something not quite right, as if she was hiding something. The news that Damsari will be coming back to the capital bringing teacher Yangbaek reaches Kangto…

Is anyone keeping track of the death count in this drama cuz we need to add some more names to that list. I don’t like K’s idea of joining Kishokai at all. Isn’t that like disguising yourself as a steak and walking into the lion’s den? How much more danger does he need to subject himself to before he realizes he is human and can only endure so much. What could he possibly accomplish from joining them other than the obvious like getting insider info. Doesn’t he have enough identities as it is? he is Lee Kangto turned Gaksital masquerading as a Japanese officer and now he is going to add Kishokai member to that list. one of these days he is going to forget which “mask” he put on and slip up and then I will have to recap his downfall. Heaven forbid he ever gets hit on the head and gets partial amnesia cuz who knows which name he will say aloud first.

Bridal Mask E18

The guy who shot this scene should get a reward. It’s one of the prettiest in this drama so far. At first I didn’t get where all her animosity went once she learned who K was, but now I understand. They live in a time where you just don’t hold grudges. You live each day knowing it could be your last. When you finally discover the young master you have been waiting for, you don’t dwell on the past and what he did to you cuz all that matters now is he is Gaksital. He is a hero for the Koreans and someone she has come to love. She thought a stranger was behind that mask so I guess it’s only right that she accepts him so easily into her heart since she has basically loved this guy from childhood. In a way, the tears she shed was from remorse. Just like he mistreated her in the past and regretted, tonight was her turn. Once she shed those tears, she washed away her hatred for him. The more people know about K’s identity as Gaksital, it gets more dangerous for him. But this is the one person I was hoping would know everything about how he became Gaksital cuz you just know that K’s difficult road ahead is a little less scary knowing he has her by his side.

I love how K is getting through to D’s father more than the man’s daughter. Through the father, K is going to get acceptance as one of them and later on his heroic actions will finally open D’s eyes. Something tells me that it’s going to take some time for D to accept that K is not who she thought he was. During all this time, he gave her plenty of reasons to hate him. Not sure if all that hatred can turn into love overnight. One step in the right direction would be if he saves the only parent she has left. Then I bet she will be willing to see K in a whole new light.

Preview for ep18: When Shunji finds out that Mokdan has disappeared from the hotel she was supposed to be in, he finds out from Hongjoo that she almost killed Mokdan but she was saved by Gaksital.

The next day, his suspicions only grow stronger when Kangto fails to turn up for work. Shunji is absolutely sure that Gaksital will appear on Damsari’s public execution and shoots at Gaksital when he appears to save Damsari..

I love how his eyes express every word and emotion that he can’t say aloud. She was the one walking into that torture box but he looked like he was going to be the one in agonizing pain.

*Another nail biting cliffhanger -is there no normal way to end an episode with this drama?

Bridal Mask E15

After 15 episodes of his glares and frowns, you would think I would be immune to them by now. But this one is different. It’s coming from a place straight from his heart. All he cares about is her safety and protecting her. If she would only stop to see, she could note that behind that intensity lies so much care and concern. How many more episodes till she realizes what her father is already starting to suspect –that the person they lay so much hope in is the one who is looking at her with all the love in the world. I used to worry about all dangerous situations he faces and the guns aimed at Gaksital, but after watching so many officers shoot and miss, I no longer worry about the guns. Now I am more afraid of K’s love for D. I think she will be the one who makes him vulnerable and open to an attack. He will put down his guard with her one day and then he is going to be face to face with danger. Their love was never meant to be a Disney version cuz after 28 episodes and everything they’ve gone through, it can only end up being epic.
