I Hear Your Voice E11-E12

It’s hard to tell if she knows the old Su ha is back. I wonder what gave him away first – that he put his arms around her waist and hugged her, that he spoke banmal to her again, that he couldn’t believe his innocence came first to her before her own safety, or his flood of tears. I’m willing to bet maybe all of the above. I love that her initial reaction wasn’t to push him away – all she did was reach back to pat his head to say good job for keeping his promise to her. It sort of makes me sad thinking that both times he expressed his love for her – there were tears involved -during their first kiss and now this hug. But I wouldn’t have it any other way cuz there just couldn’t be a more perfect way to say “I am back” than this – nothing comes even close.

*I have something to note about the way Su ha speaks. Before when he spoke to her – his voice was more confident and his speech brazen. These days he speaks more softly, timidly, cautiously, hesitantly – like a child who has been feeling hurt. Hye Sung on the other hand uses a more authoritative tone with him devoid of any emotion. she also avoids any sort of eye contact with him – as if looking at him directly will break down her resolve to get over her growing feelings for him. 

Written before it aired: Even though we are surprised that Hye Sung voiced her feelings for Su ha aloud so soon, I think it’s important to note that she only admitted her feelings to Kwan woo cuz he needed to hear it so he can back off and forget about her. The one who really needed to hear her say that – the one who has lived the past eleven years just dying to hear that was Su ha. In situations like this, I know how big a deal it is just taking that first step to admit the truth, but when it comes to Hye Sung and Su ha, each step seems like it took a lifetime for them to get there. It really makes you wonder -how much more do you need to feel before you are certain about your heart? How much more denying do you need to do before you realize denial doesn’t work in this case? At what point do you admit your feelings aloud to the one who matters and leave yourself vulnerable for what comes after? How great would it be if Hye Sung found the courage to tell Su ha how she feels about him, but I suspect she will keep him in the dark a little longer. I hope so too so that he can exact revenge when he gets his memory back and his ability to read minds again. I want her thoughts and feelings about him to be the first thing he reads and for him to smirk complacently cuz she doesn’t have a clue that he knows everything she is thinking. Now that is what I call a sweet payback.

E12

Starts from H making tea and sitting down to work. She looks out and notices it started to rain. She remembers what S said as he held onto her hand with both of his– I’m sorry -I’m really sorry, even if you dont like me – dislike me to the extent that you find me tiring – couldn’t you just stay (with me). she told him to let go but he continues: right now I feel like all my ties with the world have been cut. She gets up and goes out

In the cab she remembers what she told K – it’s really ridiculous but that kid keeps worrying me ( as in he keeps making me think of him and pay attention to him)

when she gets out of the cab and sees S, she says I am really going to go crazy – what should I do with you.

How she told K it’s ridiculous, but I must like the kid. I will quickly settle my feelings for him – I must settle it  – I can do it

She takes him home and tosses him a towel to wipe his hair. He asks didnt you say I disliked you cuz you were messy? H: yes you nagged so much so I cleaned. S: I don’t remember but somehow I’m more used to this place than my home. She tells him how he can only stay till he gets his memory back then after that after he gets his memory back he cant come back here again or go looking for her anymore. hurry and answer. S says in the saddest voice: yes. She reminds him she cant defend him this time in the upcoming appeal and cant be certain he will get not guilty so try to get his memory back no matter what. gather what he remembers and match them up like a puzzle. S: yes I will do that. She asks why his eyes are so red so he says after the trial I couldnt sleep- I must have insomnia. She tells him you used to sleep well so why would you have insomnia, do you have any stress? but he is already asleep. She tells him – are you asleep? you said you had insomina-  go into the room to sleep but he is dead to the world so she covers him with a blanket and watches him sleep. She reaches out to touch him but doesn’t

* I love that he cant sleep when he is apart from her but sleeps like a baby the minute he is next to her. it’s like his entire body and mind is not at peace unless she is in front of him.

She takes a shower and goes to her room and wonders which lawyer to get to represent S in the appeal – lawyer cha would be the best since he has his own practice now so should I try to get him somehow- but then she says to herself- you are crazy – a person needs to know not to overstep. jang you are totally terrible. she hit herself on the cheeks and says it hurts. she lays on the bed wondering – should I do it?

Next morning S wakes up and looks around. He wonders how long he slept. he goes over and reads her note. To heat up and eat the curry in the fridge. He remembers how she told him to try to remember somehow – to gather all his memories together and match them up like a puzzle. He grabs her post its and remembers. He writes Min JG and the fishing place. The car accident on the back road. Going to the aquarium with lawyer jang. He goes through his journal and writes more. he sticks them up on the door and tries to make sense out of them.

H is hesitating outside K’s office door and says this is really overstepping. still lawyer cha is the most safe (for her to trust to defend S) no – a person really shouldn’t do this. But what if S gets a strange lawyer. K texts her a photo of her outside his door and it says – what are you doing now. He is behind her. He asks do you have something to say to me. H: no I don’t. he tells her to say it. H: no I cant. He asks you came to request I represent S right? she doesnt reply so he lets go of her hand and says I must be correct. She says no – I did think of that for a short time but I put it away. I cant overstep and make that kind of request cuz I feel sorry. I wont do it. He says I will do it – I will represent S and make you feel sorry and feel burdened so that it will be easier for you to get over your ridiculous feelings (for him) -wont it? I will work hard to defend him with all my strength so you can feel burdened. from here on it’s my case so you stop paying any attention to it. got that? H: yes. He says “aja aja fighting” but once he has his back to her he looks crushed (cuz he just volunteered to defend the guy she likes).

*when she said “overstepping” she meant she shouldnt be asking the guy she rejected to defend the guy she likes.

He goes to his office and looks miserable. K: “I feel like I will die.” He reads over the transcripts during the trial in S’s dad’s murder case. How the defense said that S was even telling a ridiculous lie that he could read people’s hearts. can we see him as a viable witness? Judge Seo asked if there wasn’t a witness as S cried -just then young H came in and said I am jang Hye sung – I am the witness for this murder case. K imagines seeing her in that courtroom as little S holds her hand. Then he remembers how he saw S take her hand at the café too. K wonders can I win this fight.

Hwang gets out of prison and Shin is there to greet him. Hwang thanks him cuz without him he wouldn’t have a sponsor (to write out that he will watch over him). shin says I brought my car so I will take you. let’s go. Hwang says the car is run down. SHin says you have to throw away the bias that a sports car doesnt suit me. hwang worries the car wont work but shin says it’s worked safely for 16 yrs. he can barely get the door open without it falling apart.

In the car hwang says the world changed a lot. Shin says don’t worry you can follow quickly. Hwang wonders if he has that kind of time to follow the changes. He wishes he could see his daughter once before he dies. He is holding something so Shin asks what it is. hwang says it was something that was inside his bag from 26yrs ago when he was imprisoned (it’s a kid’s crayon set) a present for his daughter. Shin says sorry. Hwang: for what? Shin: just all of it. Hwang says what are you talking about – I am grateful. you are the only one who believed me.

The other lawyer finds out D is out investigating something involving JG. the guy wonders why she is suddenly investigating a dead guy and the other man says it’s cuz she suddenly thinks he isnt dead.

D is back at the fruit stand showing more photos to Moon so she insists he isnt among these people. how much longer are you going to do this. D: until I find that person. isnt there a reason why that person didn’t report S himself. How was his hand. Moon lies and says his hand was perfectly fine.

H goes home and S greets her eagerly asking –  you are very late. Did you eat if you didn’t….(he was going to say let’s eat together) but she says I ate and came. She tells him to go see K tm cuz he will defend you in the appeal and gives S the business card. you dont have to worry about the money cuz he said he would do it for free (pro bono). She starts to walk away but he held her hand to ask if she made that request to K. so she pulls away and asks is that important. S: yes it’s important. H: Ok I asked him. you saw him too so you know – is there any other lawyer who is as good as him. I feel sorry to him and feel burden too, but i have to take my hands off your case now. aside from lawyer cha there is no one else. got that? S: ok. i get it. I will meet him tm. She tells him to have a good talk with him and act polite and goes inside her room.

She says that S is worrying her. why am I like this. She is hungry cuz she lied and didn’t eat

S is in the other room staring at the business card and remembering how K left with H. he hears some rustling sound  so he goes out and sees her eating kid’s sausage sticks in the fridge. He just closes the door like he didn’t see anything. She is mortified and hangs her head in shame, but keeps chewing.

Next day S is dressed in a suit and goes to meet K at a café. K takes out his wallet and asks what do you want to drink. S says I will buy mine myself. K: ok.

*In Korea, it’s customary for the older person to buy drinks and meals for the younger person – even if you arent close friends, but Su ha doesnt want to owe K anything – even the cost of a drink.  

K asks during that time did you have any other memories? S tells him yes I do remember meeting Min JG at the fishing place but I don’t remember what we said or did. K: you didnt fight? S: yes just up to there (what he remembers up to). K asks is there anything else? S: After I met Min JG I think I was in a car accident. it was some back road. I think I was hit by a blue truck. K asks a blue truck? the long one? I need to look into that – you don’t remember the plates. S shakes his head no. K says he will look into reported accidents with the police and hospitals. S thanks him for taking his case. K says no need to be thankful cuz I am doing it for H. S asks how much will it cost cuz K is taking on the case not as a public defender and a private sector lawyer. so you need to be paid. K says as a public defender I was free but on the private sector I am a really expensive lawyer so when I say I will defend you for free – listen to me (as in obey). just pay attention to getting your memories back. S argues – I will pay for your fee so let me know how much and leave out talk about lawyer jang. I have the insurance from my dad and the home he left me so I will pay for the costs so don’t give any kind of burden to lawyer jang. K says arent you the one giving her burden?  don’t pretend  like you are a grownup and act like a grownup for real. just cuz you are wearing a suit doesnt make you a grownup. right now you are a high school drop out accused of murder  with no memory and no future so that is why she rescued you (picked you up off the streets).  dont mistake that for something else. a year ago I put up with you cuz you were young but not now.  When you get your memory back and get not guilty, dont give her burden/pressure and come out of her home. Like you said you are not a kid now.

S walks away and takes his tie off

*”boo-dahm” can mean both burden or pressure and it seems to be used both ways during this conversation.

K tells himself – you are no better – you are showing that you hit rock bottom

Shin looks like he is sleeping as H asks him about a case where the wife was attacked by her husband and stabbed him with a knife so isnt that self defense. can I get a not guilty by claiming self defense. shin mumbles some advice but H says the defendant said she would take repsonsibility and asked for me to get her a not guilty. shin yells the lawyer should decide – that is what a lawyer is.

D sits in her office and remembers how the lady said his hand was fine. D repeats that over and over. She goes outside and asks people about the other person’s hand. They give descriptions of the hand like it’s pale and soft and use other specific adjectives to describe the hand. D puts her hands behind her back and asks the other lawyer how her hand is. He describes it as long slender fingers. She says when you ask about a hand normally people reply about the skin tone, length and thickness of the fingers – so isnt it strange to reply the hand is fine. he asks did someone reply like that. D says yes. the one who secretly reported S.  I asked Moon how the hand of the person who told her to report S looked like and she replied the hand was fine. isnt that strange. the guy guesses Min JG. They guess Moon was coached to say that cuz he doesnt have a left hand and Moon would only answer like that about the hand cuz she wants to keep JG hidden. He says it cant be cuz if JG was alive traces of him would have shown up during all that time. D says it’s cuz we didnt look for him properly. we have to look for him now. she asks for a cop to be put on Moon (the fruit stand lady)

K is calling in a favor to a hyung who is a cop. K gives him the location and exact date from last year and asks about a reported car accident. look all over.  the cop finds them and K asks if there is one involving a blue truck accident (the one S was in). K asks who is the owner of the truck. the cop says Kim and looks up the address but K already guesses where he lives. cop asks how he knew. K thanks him and then repeats the name

S looks at a poster for the police academy while he is waiting. JB smiles and calls out his name. she comes over with CK. JB says don’t call us out together in a set anymore. why did you call us today – did you get some memory back. S says no so that is why I wanted some help from you two. CK: how can we help. S: just tell me what you know about me and lawyer jang. S takes a flier for the police academy so CK asks what is that – are you interested in becoming a cop. S: no just looking. CK says dont even look at that – it’s really hard to get into. also you said your case isnt over yet. if you are found guilty -even if you died and came back you wont be able to get in there so JB kicks him to shut up.  JB tells S -no  you can do it cuz you studied well in high school. S: I did? then I have a chance. she says you will be so cool if you go to police academy -I totally like guys in uniform. CK yells we have uniforms at the car center. He takes a flier too.

H walks out and says it’s uncomfortable to eat with S. she wonders if she should eat dinner alone before going home. She sees shin walking thru the revolving door the way she does and says that’s mine (as in that is her thing). she goes over and asks what are you doing. Shin asks why do you do this it just makes me dizzy. She says when I go inside I can think well (be able to sort through her thoughts) I guess I shouldnt do it when I get old. shin: why bring up age here. she asks do you have any troubles these days – why are you like that when you arent going through puberty. shin: can just those going through puberty have troubles. she notices there is an outdoor food stall. She asks if he is going. shin: yes. she pulls him back and reminds him how he doesnt drink anything but wine to get drunk so he tells her to go on her way and keep her mouth shut. but she asks to go along

H follows him and they are surprised to run into judge Kim and the other judges and D. kim explains how they all ran into each other outside of court. Kim invites shin to sit and shin tells H to sit down. Kim says how well D drinks – she drank 2 and a half bottles of soju and is fine. H orders 3 bottles. Shin asks can you drink all that by yourself. H: you know I can drink

3 bottles later H got drunk really fast and says see I am perfectly fine. she has a kae leaf stuck to her forehead. she leans on shin so he pushes her away and says yes you are perfectly fine.  Kim asks if D is ok. She says I am ok but I’m hot and fans herself with a lettuce. Kim says to H – whenever I see you – I am curious about one thing. H: ask. Kim: during the interview to choose public defenders last time -didn’t you say you regretted opening the door to the court and going in to be a witness. H: yes I regret that. kim: why did you say you regretted. H: to tell the truth. i testified cuz I wanted to show that brat and her dad that I was correct and that brat was wrong.  flashback 11 years ago. H: So I opened that door and went in  but I got nothing out of it (not one single thing). Kim: why didnt you get anything out of it? you testified as a witness and caught the criminal and upheld justice. H curses the justice and that cell phone. Flashback to the court when the defense  said how S lied about reading hearts and now H is lying to make the defendant guilty. the other judge said it would be hard to take the word of the witness so H holds up her phone and says I have a photo here of that person killing the victim with a pipe. will this not work as evidence/proof too? H remarks she was tricked cuz of that phone.

Outside the court judge Seo came over and says it must have been scary for you. you testified well. If it wasn’t for you this case would just have been buried as a car accident. He gave back her phone. she asks did you see the photo? he says I saw it. nothing was taken (no photo). H: I lied – was it ok? He says of course- you did well. in front of your eyes the criminal was getting away -you shouldn’t just stand there and do nothing. even if you had to shoot a smoke screen – you had to catch him. you suffered today. I will let you know when the verdict comes in. H: did you know there was another witness for this crime. he asks who is it? H: Do yeon. She was with me on the day of the crime and was suppose to come here together today, but she ran away. D is a liar. Today too and she lied that I hit her with the firecracker. He says I know D lied, but thanks to that I found out you were the culprit/criminal. she tries to speak up to defend herself but he says – over stuff like that I dont think of it as lies. what D did. what you did in court a while ago. She asks – if it isn’t a lie then what is it. He says a smoke screen – a way to catch the criminal

H says I felt so indignant (that is was unfair)I put my life on the line to be a witness but I didnt get one single thing out of it. It’s worth regretting huh? D: regret? would you have as much as me?  I regret too. For the past 11 years – for not opening that door and going in. shin and Kim realize D is “that brat” H referred to in her story. D: Do you know why I hate you so much. flashback to when they counted to 3 and only H went inside. D: In my life the moment I was the most cowardly you were a witness. everytime I see you I remember that moment. Flashback of D running away from the courtroom. Her dad’s car pulled up and he saw her at the bus stop but closed his window. D : do know how much I regret that moment? I should have gone back and been a witness. even now I regret.  I wanted to explain/make an excuse for that moment, but how. after that day, I quit art and cut ties with all my friends and studied hard to become a prosecutor.  I wanted to show you and my father. in that moment I wasnt myself. that it was a mistake. like that- for 11 years-that is how I explained it. Do you know that. for 11 years. She says I will get up and leaves. H gets up too and says I will be going too. Kim says what do we do if the two who drank the most leaves – what about the check.

Shin remembers the day H met up with D and said when I saw you here I was curious – you became a successful prosecutor so why did we have to happen to meet here. why did God set this up like this between us.  shin says they have a fun friend relationship -those two. others say for them to meet here as lawyer and prosecutor. Kim says that is some amazing fate. Shin: they say fate is God’s will

As Shin narrates : if God willed for two people to meet again. isnt it cuz there is a reason why those two had to meet again.  hwang is coming out of his hospital room and meets his one handed wife who works there. They are both shocked to see each other again.

S is looking at all his notes. He remembers how K said right now you are a high school drop out accused of murder  with no memory and no future so that is why she rescued you (picked you up off the streets).  dont mistake that for something else.

S goes out and sees her shoes and bag there and her jacket hanging on the railing outside. He says why are her shoes there- this is lawyer jang’s clothes. he turns and sees her lying down on her terrace seat. He goes over and smiles at her. He gets close and sniffs her and makes a face cuz of the alcohol smell.  He watches her sleep.  S remembers how K said isn’t the one giving lawyer jang burden you. S reaches out to pet her hair, but mumbles D is a brat and grabs his hand and sleeps on it like a pillow so he smiles and carries her inside and puts her in bed. He sees her scar and wonders what scar that is. She rolls over so he pulls down her shirt to cover it up and puts the blanket over her.

next morning S made her hangover soup. He is eating alone when she comes out. he says you drank a lot yesterday so are you ok. H: I’m ok. S: Couldnt you not drink cuz you seem to have a low tolerance for alcohol. She says I am famous for having excellent drinking habits. even though I black out I manage to get home each time and I’ve never caused trouble so there is no need to worry about me. S smiles to himself cuz none of that is true from what he saw. he asks: are you not going to eat today too- I made bean sprout soup. She says I have to go early. He asks you aren’t avoiding me. H: it’s not like that. she leaves but he puts his spoon down and goes after her.

He runs out and blocks her from going down the stairs. H: what are you. S: I have something to ask. H: what is it? S: I think you have a scar on your waist. what is that? She thinks to herself- if he knows that it will be hard on him.  she says aloud: when did you see that.  it was just a scar from appendicitis. He says one more thing. somehow I will get not guilty in the appeal -when I get not guilty I will go to college, make friends, get a part time job, and live a busy life. so I don’t worry you or give you burden – I will live diligently. H: that is good to hear. S: I wont nag. So don’t avoid me and come home late to avoid me, dont skip meals, and don’t dislike me too. He moves aside to let her pass by.

H goes to work and D has the same bag as her. H feels awkward around D and both remember what they said when they were drunk. how H said that crack about justice and that cell phone and how D said I regret too- for 11 yrs – for not being able to open that door and go in. But in the elevator H asks do you remember what you said when you were drunk and D asks the same thing. They both deny remembering anything

The fruit stand lady is drinking with JG and reads the subpoena that says D is calling her to testify. Moon is telling him not to worry cuz when I go I wont even mention you. he pours and asks when did they want you to come. she says tm. I wont get to sell anything for a day. She packed some peaches for him and tells him to take them. he remembers how H’s mom made his birthday meal and right before she died how he told her – you know what I am going to do now so arent you scared. how she said I am not scared. I just feel sorry for you. your whole life -how hellish it  must have been. Moon asks what he is thinking. JG: just what I should do. whether I should stop here or go till the end. Moon asks are you on some trip somewhere. JG says yes I am on a ttrip. while going -I thought this place isnt too bad. maybe I should stop and stay here. I’m in the middle of struggling over that. She says if it’s a trip – shouldn’t you go till the end. JG says you think so too. moon: you should see the end. JG: I have to see it till the end – I think that too.

K tracked down the truck but it was repainted white. He scratches it and sees it’s blue underneath. K remembers what S said about being hit by a blue truck so K says bingo. The old man asks who are you. K says I came to ask something.

K asks  you know Park S dont you or should I say Lee for you to know. Kim says why are you doing this again – last time for the trial-  the police and investigators questioned me a lot. K says something came out that we didnt know then. Kim: what is that. K: did you hit Lee a year ago with that truck. Kim says who said that – did Lee tell you – does he remember. K lies and says yes he remembers so you have to tell me the truth. why did you have the car accident and then hide it. Kim says truthfully I was going to report it and take the punishment -for real, but that person told me not too do that since Lee doesn’t have any memory- to bury it.  K asks who said that.

D gets a call – there is big trouble – last night Moon the fruit stand lady was killed in an accident.

JB goes to the accident site and hears that Moon was killed while driving drunk (not a car but a tractor looking thing) he lists what her alcohol level was and that she fell off the bridge and broke her neck. D asks about the CCTV and if it was checked, but he says it’s broken -an hour before. She wonders if all of this is coincidence. She declares from here on Min JG is alive

S looks at his shoulder scar and wonders what scar it is. that it’s similar to the scar H has. suddenly he remembers JG stabbing him and S stabbing H. Then all his other memories come flooding back. S is scared and says what is this. this isnt right. Why would you. he remembers how he asked her why she did that. how H said I told you if you kill him you become a murderer and not a victim. Don’t tell anyone else – ever- you didnt stab- if you say anything else I wont meet you again from here on. He remembers his dad’s car accident. Then how H said I am the witness in this crime. Then how young S told her I will protect you. Then how his uncle acted like he didn’t see him in the amusement park. How he held onto H on the bus. How he saves JB from jumping. How he told H I can read people’s hearts. how JG asked – you think your father was a good person dont you. All the rest of the memories flood back. S goes outside grabbing his head. He runs down the street.

At the fishing place that night JG said – Like I killed your father. Your father killed my wife. S: no-that would not happen. JG: you thought your father was a good person. S: shut up dont lie. JG: Right now you know I am not lying. S: stop. please. JG: your father killed my wife with his threats. The one who started all this is not me – it’s your father. S: shut up. shut up. S starts to choke him. JG says right now you want to kill me.  JG puts the knife in S’s hand and says kill me. Right now how are you different from me 11 years ago. S remembers how he promised H -I will never do what you are worried about.  I will be sure to keep that promise so trust me. S drops the knife. S: I am different. I wont live like a killer like you. Never. JG: stop there. Park Su ha – stop. S staggered away out of the fishing place then took off running.

S ran away and said father please say it isn’t so. father- father. Present day S runs too and almost gets hit by a bike. he remembers getting hit by that blue truck. biker yells how can you jump out like that. S can read his mind about how he needed to come out strong and not seem weak like he is in the wrong. the biker yells do you want to die. S can read all the people’s thoughts suddenly. why is he like that. should we report it to the police. it will be a nusiance. what is going on for everyone to gather like this. Blood drips from his nose and he grabs his head in pain. He faints and people surround him.

*the fact that he can read people’s minds was never normal to begin with. after that car accident as a kid, he wasnt properly treated for his head wound I bet. I always thought this ability would just stay with him. All I could think was filming this scene couldnt have been easy cuz it’s like 88 degrees out there so all that sweat wasnt just from running. plus he hit his head pretty hard going down.

K runs down the hall and says lawyer jang – Min JG is alive. H says I just heard. D is sitting there and already told her. K asks what D is doing here. she says i already declared that Min JG is alive. Shin asks K: how do you know.  K tells them about the grandpa who took care of S for a year. he was the one who was driving and hit S. Yoo asks is that why he kept S – to cover up the car accident. K says he was going to secretly report it -turn himself in but someone stopped him from doing that. since S doesnt remember – just to bury it. shin: is that by any chance. K finishes and says it was Min JG -at that time he already didn’t have his left hand. Yoo says so JG did all this. shin asks where JG is now. D says they are looking for him. Yoo says so all this is Min JG’s doing -the frame up. shin asks D where JG is. D: dont know yet – sent out a missing report for him. D tells H about where his last location was and how they are looking into programs he might have joined (cuz of his hand) so dont be too scared. H: what abou S? what happens to his appeal? D: what? H says since JG is alive shouldn’t you cancel the appeal. D: ya in this situation should you be bringing up the appeal first. H: yes it’s first. you care going to cancel it right? D: I will. H thanks D and says I will go out for a while. K asks where are you going. H: to let S know

*they filmed the next scene outside of the SBS building in Mokdong. I could tell just from where S was sitting wiping his bloody nose. that glass window behind him is a dead giveaway.

S is sitting outside her building and remembers how JG said your father started all this – not me. S says so that is the memory I wanted to erase. just cuz I erase it doesnt mean it goes away. He sees H coming out. She is calling him and doesn’t see him sitting there. S says in his head: what do I do with you – if you know this truth you will probably resent/hate me. if you know Min JG is alive -how afraid you will be.

S reads her mind. H: JG is alive. Su ha didnt kill him – That kid kept his promise to me.

She calls and asks where are you now? are you at home? S: no. I’m outside. H: Min JG is alive. D and K found that out. S: yes. (he stands up to start walking over to her while he is on the phone) H: why is your reaction like this. Min JG is alive. Now you are totally not guilty. you dont have to go to the appeal. S says into the phone in banmal- if that person is alive it means you are in danger. She says :ya you dummy – that is a problem for later. D said she is not going to make an appeal anymore. I heard it so you are no longer the defendant. S walked over and back hugs her. His arms are around her waist and he rests his head on her shoulder crying and saying in banmal: You are the idiot. Your life is in danger again so how is my innocence first. how? how can you do that? She reaches back and rubs his hair saying thank you for keeping your promise.

What Shin said about God’s will for two people to meet again, that there had to be a reason for it – that is so true

H and D had to meet again so they can reconcile and become friends

 

JG had to meet S and H again to exact his revenge and in the process -hopefully in that last moment he wont go through with it and refuse to kill either S or H cuz JG finally learns his lesson – that nothing he does can bring his wife back. 

 

and S and H had to meet again to fall in love. so that he can be there for her as she heals from the loss of her mother and H can be there for him – cuz he needs someone to be his. for the first time in his life after all the rejections from his relatives, he needs someone who wants him in her life. to start his healing process. those similar scars they share arent the only things connecting them – it’s the reason why they both have those scars – they got it protecting each other.   

I wonder if he can read his future with her in the palm of her hand. This scene was even more meaningful cuz this Su Ha is only starting to realize his feelings for her and yet he is almost caught up cuz that’s how quickly his emotions escalate around her. From the content of his journal, we know that he didn’t just grow to love her eventually over time after they met, he literally grew up loving her. From the day she showed up in court, it’s like the second he made that promise to protect her, he pledged not just his support, but his heart as well. After his lonely upbringing, his love began from a need of filling that emptiness with something so he chose devotion and then the thought of meeting her again one day is what sustained him. Even with his memory loss, his instinct is remembering her and how much she means to him. I just can’t get that image out of my mind – the way he cradled her head in his arms, it’s like she was always meant to be there. They both lost a parent too soon so isn’t it only fair that they cling to each other to bridge some of that emptiness. I never did see Su ha’s love for her as being one sided – it was just a matter of time till her heart caught up to his. I just never imagined the wait would be worth it to this extent.

Starts from H briefing S when they are alone – just the two of them with one guard. H is telling him how they are going to say JG is alive. while she talks he remembers his confrontation with JG and how he held up his arm to attack JG. He holds her arm as she is about to leave and asks how can you trust me more than me? how can you be so certain that I’m not the criminal. H: I told you – you made a promise to me that you would never kill Min JG. S: you are trusting me cuz of a promise? cuz of just that promise. H: do you know what kind of kid you are? to keep a promise you made to me that even I didnt remember – you are a kid who went around looking for me for ten years. does that make sense? to keep that promise-ten years. 

In court H says: as the prosecution accused – I admit I suspected some other suspect without any basis/motive. but all this great evidence is teaching us that only one person the defendant Park Su ha is the criminal – to tell the truth there is one more person. he was there at the scene of the crime. within all the evidence he had opportunity, record of calls, and the motive to have the knife, and had the strength to cut a wrist -there is someone like that. Kim asks who is that. H:  the victim Min JG. Kim: what are you saying – Min JG is the victim in this case who was murdered. how could become the suspect?  H addresses the honorable judges and the jury –  I am claiming that the victim Min JG is still alive. she looks over at S.

Judge Kim asks the defense and prosecution to step up and asks why are you doing this – you should have told me this earlier during preparations. K: we would have told you sooner if we could but how can we help that we just thought of it. H says it’s worth saying for the defendant’s sake. K says how they will try to do it with the remaining witness and existing evidence. Kim says this decision is too self serving and tells them to start with the witness Hwang D.  

K is questioning Hwang and brings up how Hwang is imprisoned for killing his wife with an axe 26 yrs ago. cuz only his wife’s left hand was discovered  they called it the left hand murder case. have you told that truth to the victim your former cellmate Min JG?  Hwang says  yes I did tell him. K asks you heard the news that Min JG was murdered didnt you? Hwang: yes. K: did you know that the evidence the victim was murdered was the victim’s left hand found at the crime site. Hwang: no. K: dont you think that is too much of a coincidence? Hwang: it seems so. K tells the jury to consider this then – that JG heard about the idea of the left hand murder and got the the idea to get away from the police forever and take revenge against the defendant. by cutting off his own left hand and making it look like Park Su ha did it. Prosecution says the defense is talking without proof, but K argues there is no corpse and it hasnt been found and only the left hand so this shouldnt be called a murder case (cuz it’s possible he could be alive)

Su ha watches H take notes on the palm of her hand

Prosectution questions the neighborhood cop who testifies that Su ha came to the precinct and made threats – he said if you don’t do anything – I might find JG and kill him. Prosecution asks if Min JG was murdered – who is the first person you would suspect. the cop says S. Shin marks off their arguments one by one. K questions the cop and states the exact date and asks if the cop lost his gun. H told him with hand motions – if you dont tell the truth you could die by me – I am watching. cop says yes I did. K asks if S was suspected of stealing the gun and the cop says yes. K asks if S really stole the gun. The cop says no I was mistaken. K asks if he could have made that same mistake and suspected S of killing JG. (K was trying to make a point about suspicions and mistakes leading to assumptions)   

D says the knife the defendant used to kill the victim has the defendant’s fingerprints all over it cuz he valued it and carried it around. K argues that knife also has JG’s fingerprints on it. also that knife was used a week before the incident between a physical confrontation between JG and S that lawyer Jang stopped and JG ran off with that knife. the last known owner of that knife was Min JG 

Then the prosecution talks about the last person JG spoke to on the phone – the defendant Park Su ha. H argues the one who called was the victim and the defendant answered it. if he was going to murder him the one who should have called should have been the defendant.  

D brings up the blood and left hand found on the cite and the defense could only make claims if they had even one piece of evidence that Min JG is alive. K says like the prosecution said – they should have brought plenty of definitive evidence that the victim is dead. just the left hand alone is not proof that someone is dead. Shin says they are doing well – they used all their arguments/defenses. H stands up

Yoo asks the woman to wrap up two boxes of peaches to take back to seoul. He lies and says what was it like when you saw park S in person- she is really pretty-was she glamorous? the woman says yes she was glamorous. Yoo: oh really but park S is a guy – see you havent seen Park S in person. how did you know about him to report him? she tells him to leave – you came to get my reward didnt you? I wont sell these peaches to you. go.  she hits him so he swears he isnt after her reward so just tell me -how did you know about him to report him.

Kim asks the prosecuion to make their closing. D starts and says I was in charge of a murder case last year. a man who had motive for revenge went to go find a mother -he covered his actions and it was a murder case. the proof that the defendant was the culprit was plenty -he had motive and there was footage of the CCTV in front of the store getting broken and the victim had blunt force trauma on her head. it was a terribly cruel murder. but the defense said it wasnt a murder – it was an accident. the trauma to her head was just from her fainting. and the CCTV was broken by coincidence. they argued about reasonable doubt.  in the end the defendant was released and not found guilty. as soon as he was released he went and found the people he wanted to avenge and terrorized them. There were a lot of pieces of evidence but for the reason that out of 100, only 80 was right,  he got not guilty. the rest of the 20 pieces -that reasonable doubt that it could fit another picture – the defense claimed not guilty. a 100 piece puzzle of an elephant – just cuz 80 pieces are in the right place doesnt mean that puzzle looks like a cat or lion. even if you get 80 correct you can see the elephant – the puzzle I showed you today –  you know well what picture it is. the knife with the defendant’s blood on it-his motive (wanting revenge)- the phone call- the left hand. all these evidence – that it doesnt turn into bubbles like last year’s case -so that the killer’s crime wont be buried.  I will ask for your guilty verdict.  Kim tells the defense to give their closing. K stands but H holds his arm and says I will do it – let me do it.

H stands up and thanks them all for being the jurors for such a lengthy time. Before I do the closing there is one thing I need to let you know. that case the prosecution mentioned a while ago – the victim in that case was my mother. She quotes about what she said about reasonable doubt that would free a killer and the law/principle and how she wanted to take it out on the one who made that principle. But now standing here today I know why we need that principle. that principle is defending one person. The defendant doesn’t remember at all what he did in the last year. then they found the left hand of the victim. There are two possibilities – one – the defendant really killed the victim or the victim Min JG dreamed all this up (to frame S). while you saw the trial today – all of you in your heart – if you think these two possibilities have a chance of being true then you have to rule not guilty. when you have reasonable doubt you have to rule that way -it’s your principle as the jury. The prosecution said this case was like a puzzle with 20 missing pieces. of course just cuz you dont have 20 pieces, the elephant puzzle doesnt become a lion puzzle. cuz the 20 pieces of the puzzle are missing -whether that elephant stepped on a person with his front foot and killed him or if it was kicking a ball – you cant know. if all of you – without the missing 20 pieces saw the puzzle as the elephant kicking with his front foot, then this elephant stepped on a person with his front foot and killed him so you decide killing it was the right ruling then what will happen.  then after killing that elephant and putting in the rest of the 20 pieces – if under that elephant’s front foot – what if there was a ball and not a person -then what. You cant bring back to life a dead elephant.  it’s the same for the defendant. when he is innocent and receives a life sentence and spends the best years of his life in prison -we cant ever turn back that time. So we need that principle. The crappy principle that freed the culprit who killed my mother is the principle that can save the defendant in front of me.

K is sitting outside on the steps and talks with Yoo on the phone. he tells Yoo how the jury went in now to deliberate. where are you? Yoo says I am on my way back to seoul. K: you werent able to get anything from Moon (that fruit ajumma). Yoo says yes I kept waiting but she wouldn’t come out. K says ok see you tm

He sees D stop H as D asks her – don’t you feel sorry to your mother. H: no. why? D: What you argued is the same as what lawyer cha said in Min JG’s case. do you know that? H: I know. D: then does it mean lawyer cha was correct back then? when he used that argument to get the person who killed your mother released.  H says yes I think he did what he could as the lawyer. D says your poor mother if she knew this how indignant/unfair she must feel in heaven. H says no she would have thought I was correct. that I was right. that I was doing well. D: I dont think so. H: she is my mom –I know her best. for sure she will have said I did well. H walks away from her.

As H is washing her hands in the bathroom, she starts to cry. Mom I am correct right? I did well right?

K stands outside and heard her. He leans against the wall and cries

They are waiting for the jury. S asks what time is it. K says 10:50. S says it’s taking longer than I thought. K thinks it’s cuz they are struggling over their verdict cuz if they had a unanimous vote they would have ended early. even if we lose dont worry. we can appeal.  S:I wanted to say this before the verdict came out – thank you very much for today. K says no that is what I want to say. you don’t remember but I owe you a big debt. to lawyer jang too. I couldn’t pay her back for that debt so I wasnt able to go to her during that time, but this trial is my chance -the chance to go back to her. S: you must like lawyer jang. K:yes a lot.The guard says get ready the jury is done deliberating.

Judge Kim asks the defendant to rise. He reads the jury’s verdict. He reads how there is no evidence of the corpse – if it was hidden or not. Then he goes over the blood on the knife. There is reasonable doubt. How the cases between Hwang’s and this is too similar. In the case of reasonable doubt, the defendant is not guilty. The defense looks relieved. Shin says they did well. K looks at H and H looks at S.

Kim walks out and almost faints. The others ask are you ok. Kim says I let go of my nerves and now all my strength is gone too

S stands in the middle of the hallway and asks now where do I go. H asks what are you doing there and not going home. S says I want to go but I don’t remember where home is. She says I will take you cuz I know your home address. S: ok.

Shin asks what are you doing not going when it’s late. K says I am trying to keep this in my memory – today – this time.  shin: what does that mean? K: from here on when I defend someone – I will get hurt a lot. like JG’s case -the lies of the defendant – I will be disappointed and hurt. those moments will be many – Whenever that happens I will want to quit being a lawyer  wont I? shin: yes. K: but whenever that happens I will remember today’s trial and hang in there with that. enough to erase all the disappointment and hurt – there will be a moment- With my dying strength to hang on for the sake of that moment

H walks him to his door and says go in. I will be going. He tries to open his door but cant remember the code. H asks  what are you doing and not going in. he says I don’t remember the number. she tells S to change the number later. She looks at the number for the locksmith and calls him saying the lock is broken. The guy says it will take 30 mins. She tells him – why does it take so long -it’s almost midnight. ok- hurry and come. she tells S it will take him 30 mins. S nods.

They wait in the hallway sitting on the floor and clapping her hands every few seconds to make the sensor light turn back on.  she wonders why he isn’t coming when 30 mins passed. S asks aren’t you worried. H: abou what? S: what if JG is alive -then aren’t you in danger. H: I would be. S: If I really killed him then you wont have to worry anymore. She says don’t talk nonsense. It’s a 100 times better he is alive than you becoming a killer. S: yes. The automatic lights go off again so he turns it on with a clap. She fell asleep so he sits next to her and smiles at her open mouth. He closes it and leans her head on his shoulder –cradling her head. He holds her hand and looks at the notes she wrote on the palm to say during trial. He kisses her palm then he curls up her fingers and puts them up to his lips 

*What kills me here is he doesnt have all his memory back, but he already senses how much he must have loved her and he follows his intuition so naturally -as if taking care of her is what he was born to do.

H wakes up on his couch. He slept on the floor next to her. She leans over to touch his hair but stops. She sits by him and writes him a note

S is having a bad dream. He was running when a car hit him. the driver was that grandpa who took him in. S holds his head in pain (this was probably what causes his memory loss)

He wakes up. He goes over and looks for her. She wrote a bunch of notes and left them on his fridge. He smiles reading through them till he gets to the last one – “don’t contact me anymore.”

D tells her parents about the case. The mom asks if D lost to H again. D says dont worry I am going to appeal. the mom wonders why H thinks JG is alive. D says do you remember JG’s cellmate Hwang?  cuz of a left hand murder case hwang was imprisoned 26 yrs ago. JG took that as a hint and did it to frame him. to make S the culprit – JG cut off his own left hand on purpose and left it behind and ran away. The mom says that is ridiculous. The dad goes into his room looking worried

Shin says H told me to tell you thank you. Hwang says I was just telling the truth. Shin says without your testimony it would have been hard to change the situation.  am grateful too. Hwang says It’s ok. oh I think I am going to leave here next week.shin asks why. hwang: paroled for medical leave. I met the doctor cuz these days I was dizzy and he said something is in my head ( like a tumor) and there are not many days left for me. It is strange but it made me think of S – he wont live like me at least. Shin drops his pen in shock

JB is doing H’s nails again. H says what’s going on – the color tones have become more toned down. JB says I learned a lot – not to follow my tastes and go with the client’s tastes. H: you grew up a lot. JB: yes you put your pin on – during that time you didnt wear it. You said you didnt want to be a lawyer cuz it’s embarrassing. now you arent embarrassed anymore? H: be quiet. did you meet S. JB says he called and we are going to meet later. H asks when you meet him – will you listen to my request

S is buying a cell phone. JB runs in and hugs him saying do you know how much I missed you. S: you know me well? JB: it’s for real – you really forgot about me. S: sorry. JB: it’s ok we can just start over. she introduces herself. long time ago you chased after me cuz you liked me. CK comes over and says she is lying. he says to S: dont be duped – everything she says is a lie. JB mutters why CK came. CK: S called me first, but you tagged along like a piece of gum.

CK gives back S’s stuff like his journal and headphones saying it’s all yours. S: thanks. CK asks why are your eyes so red – did you cry?  S says no cuz I haven’t been sleeping at all these days. CK: you punk – you are watching porn huh? JB hits him and says do you think everyone in the world is like you?JB: why arent you sleeping. S: I dont know -it might be insomnia. He asks if CK knows H’s number but he says he doesnt. CK: dont you know JB. so JB says I know it but she told me not to tell you. CK: why? JB: I dont know but she told me not to tell him. CK remarks it’s childish. JB says to S: sorry but I promised her. CK wonders why that ajumma runs off like that. he looks like he feels bad for S.  S looks at his phone dejectedly cuz H’s number is the one he wanted to put in first

Yoo wonders if there will be an appeal by the prosecution for S’s case. Shin says of course they will. Yoo wonders if S can get not guilty again. shin: I dont know. they run into K. he is back to work and got himself an office. shin wonders if they will take him back when he left once. K says I will work hard. Yoo says I will help

he goes and helps K unpack at his new office nearby theirs. Yoo says there is no fax or copy machine here. K says you have it so let’s share. Yoo says you will use that as an excuse to drop by a lot. he hints the excuse to see H so K acts like he is going to deny it but says you are quick to pick up on things. they laugh. then Yoo gives K the business card for the fruit stand ajumma . K says isnt this the person who reported S. Yoo says I waited till night but she didnt come out. but you know what is even stranger? she didn’t even know who S was – she thought he was a girl.

K goes to see D and her sec says that lawyer cha wants to meet her so D says tell him I am busy or that I’m not here. K comes in and says you are here. D asks what brings him here. K asks you are looking for JG aren’t you. She says no why would I look for a dead person. He says in the trial it came out that he could be alive. D: I dont think that. if you want to find him you find him yourself. arent you crossing lines coming here telling me to do this and that.  He gives her the card to the fruit owner and says she reported S but after meeting the owner she thought S was girl. isnt that strange – how could she report a total stranger. also someone who lived very far from here. D: what do you want to say. K: isnt something strange. D: it’s not strange. K tries to say it’s a possible lead that JG is alive but D denies any chance of that

S reads the post it and smiles. It’s like he is doing what each of them says one by one some two at a time. he crumples up one he doesnt like. he even studies. Then he looks at his journal  (title: Together) and opens it. He reads (it was written in jeondae just like the passages CK read to him in jail)– even today I saw someone who resembled you – where are you now – I never forgot you – when I meet you again I will be sure to protect you – I miss you. He has a memory of high fiving her and shuts the journal. He closes his eyes and thinks I miss you. He says aloud – I miss you.

He goes back and reads the last post it – don’t contact me anymore

H is hiding from K and remembers how K said in the empty court – dont worry I will use all my dying strength tm to get not guilty somehow – that is the road I think I to pay back a little of the debt I owe the two of you . when I get the not guilty I will ask you again– if you can think of me again.

She turns to leave and gets startled by K. he asks if she is ok. H: I am ok. K says I was looking for you – to give you this (he was passing out gifts cuz he just moved into his new office). I was going to pass out rice cakes but I put some effort into this. keep them and eat some as a snack. She thanks him. he says do you remember what I said before – that I would ask after the trial ended. Can you give me an answer now. She says sorry lawyer cha – my answer is the same then and now. K asks do you still hate/resent me. H: no I don’t resent you now. K: then can I ask the reason why I cant work out?  

S is running and asking people if they know where lawyer Jang’s office is. Shin and yoo are walking down the street and recognize him. Yoo calls out to him. shin: what are you doing here – are you looking for someone. S asks do you know where lawyer jang’s office is. Yoo says of course it’s our office. S: I must meet her -please let me meet her

They go in and Yoo doesn’t see her. He thinks it’s strange cuz her trial is at 3. She is hiding under her desk and she mouths to Yoo -tell him i am gone and send hm away so Yoo lies saying she left early right after her work but Shin corrects him saying she has a trial soon. Yoo lies that trial was pushed back. what to do – dont think you can meet her today. S says I will come back tm and leaves. Yoo tells her he is gone and to come out. Shin asks why she is avoiding him – did you borrow money from him. She says cuz the trial is over so it’s annoying to be involved with him anymore. Yoo asks if she will be ok with her case today and Shin adds how there are a lot of victims.  H says will they say anything to a lawyer

next scene H gets attacked by those victims and they yell at her so Kim yells at them to be quiet and stop – do you want to be sued?  cuz she is the public defense lawyer -not a lawyer who gets paid (by her client).

Kim says to H – what would you have done if I wasnt there. You were almost badly hurt if I was a little later. H: I didnt get hurt. Kim: think it over carefully- what if I wasnt there – is it that hard to say thank you?  H says I am not grateful. Kim: why arent you grateful? I rescued you.  She reminds he is the judge – taking the side of the lawyer it might give a bad impression to the victims. what you just did doesnt look fair. he mutters about how she became a lawyer. H walks away but sees S so she makes Kim hide her behind his robe. H: just go straight. hurry.  After S passes them, Kim asks aren’t you grateful to me now but she says nope cuz you were going in that direction anyway. He yells her skirt is twisted around  so she twists it back and walks away

D remembers what K said about the fruit stand ajumma who reported S and how strange it is cuz she lived far away and didn’t even know S

D goes to see the fruit stand ajumma and asks you are the one who reported S. the woman asks what now – did you come to take back my reward. hurry and go I wont sell fruit to you. D says I could take the reward back if you dont tell the truth. woman says why are you like this – reporting a bad guy is not breaking the law. D: of course it’s not but how could you not know S and report him. the woman says someone told me I could get the reward if I reported him so I did it . D asks who was that. the woman says some man who was passing through who bought fruit. I gave it to him cheap so he was grateful and told me. D: do you remember his face? would you know him if you saw his photo. woman: If I see his photo. D shows some photos and asks is he among these people. the woman recognizes JG but says no none of them are him. D: you arent hiding him right? woman: no -should I choose any of the 3 for you not to take back my reward.

JG is in the car watching the woman so she wont talk. He is wearing a hat and grew facial hair

S is waiting outside for H and sees H walking back in through the revolving door  so he traps her saying– please don’t avoid me and talk to me. H says ok let’s talk. K sees them walking away together

 

H: talk – what is it you want to say. S: there is so much but I didnt get to say thank you. for believing in me and defending me – I am really grateful. H: ok I will accept that (grateful) heart. what else? S: Why cant I contact you. She say I am really busy – if I am going to defend 20-30 people in a month- even 30 hrs in a day is not enough so I dont have time to take your calls. what else? S: did I really not like you. H says you didn’t like me and didnt treat me like a grownup. you constantly spoke banmal and nagged. do you have anything else to say? S: how about you? did you dislike me? H: should I speak honestly. I didnt just dislike you – I disliked you so much it was tiring. you’re young but acted like you were a grownup. do you know how annoying that was? that isnt all – you have a talent for turning my insides upside down. He asks why she worked so passionately to defend him during his trial. when you didnt like me. She says so that is why you are misunderstanding. didnt I tell you. you aren’t special to me – Min JG is special to me. I had to get not guilty in order to protect that law. that is why I worked so hard to defend you. I got everything I needed to out of the trial. thanks to you I also know what a lawyer is. for that I am grateful but that’s as far as it goes. so you too – just do up to here. It’s late- I have to go. He holds her hand and pleads – I am sorry I am really sorry but even if you dont like me  -even if you dislike me to the extent that I am tiring – couldn’t you just stay? (as in be there for him). She tells him to let go. S: right now I feel like all my ties to the world have all been cut. if you let go of me, I….Suddenly she gets a call and K knocks on the window and says into the phone – you are in a difficult situation now aren’t you– say you are going to a movie with me and come out. H: oh yeah we said we would go to the movies didnt we. She tells S I will be going first. She says to K into the phone: sorry I am really late huh. they walk away together as S hits the café window and says don’t go. They get in a cab and he runs after it yelling – don’t go – don’t go. He stands there and cries. She turns around in the car to look back at S. she thanks K and then asks the driver to go around the corner and let her off  to take the bus, but K says just stay put – I will take you (home).  

S sits and remembers that rainy day when he saw K with H on her terrace. He says there was another time that happened.

K walks her home and tells her to go inside. She thanks him for today. he says if you are grateful then by lunch tm. She says then I wont be grateful.

She goes inside and makes some tea and starts working. Then she looks outside cuz it’s raining

K is waiting in the rain for a bus when he sees H coming out and getting into a cab. He remembers how he asked if she still resented/hated him. H: no I dont resent you now. K: then can I ask the reason why I cant work out?

H said it’s really ridiculous/ doesn’t make sense. That kid keeps weighing on me (on my mind).

H gets out of the cab and sees S crouching in the rain soaked to the bone. H looks at S and says: I will really go crazy

H told K: it’s ridiculous/ doesn’t make sense but I must like that kid.

H says to S: what should I do with you.

H told K: So I want to hurry and settle my feelings. I have to settle it. I can do it

(I bet even she didnt believe in that last lie that she could get over her feelings for Su ha)

S picks up her dropped umbrella and holds it over her head. He is so happy she came back for him.

If you haven’t heart the news yet, look over to the right at my side widget. Call me biased, but I loved my Toshiba laptop. It did everything I wanted and more. It made blogging a joy for all these years. I got my new laptop on August 2010 and started this blog a few months later in Nov. For the first time tonight, I am typing on an ancient IBM and even though I am not the speediest typer in the world, I’m going too fast for it. The screen just seems to pause and lag at the same time as a warning for me to slow down. When I hit update last night after I edited a typo, I’m not kidding – I could count to ten Mississippis before the page did anything. As slow as this IBM is, it is still faster than my old Mac powerbook cuz that one won’t even let me download anything. My patience will really be tested tonight so let’s see if I can make it through without another mental breakdown. Recapping under these conditions makes me realize just how much I really love this drama.
