Who knew an actor could beat out an idol singer at dancing to a girl group’s song. You have to hand it to YSY – when he brings on the charm, not even someone like HJ can stand in his way.

the guys meet up at the airport on april 26^th at 8am. HD gets out of his van and gets his ticket. he says I am still not recovered from the jet lag of going to Vietnam but we are leaving again today. YSY spots him and runs over to give him a hug. he got a haircut cuz it’s more manageable and less frizzy. HD asks have you been well. HD: you know where we are going right? YSY: yes Indonesia. HD: I heard Jakarta. (the destination is Yogyakarta) they read the tickets again. JS hobbles over to them like an old man. the look on his face is what you make at the end of a trip – not the start. YSY says hello to him as HD asks why does your facial expression not look good. JS says I recorded till early this morning and came. YSY shares that after coming back from Vietnam he slept for 2 days and did nothing. JS says he couldn’t stand looking at a bike for a week. HJ arrives and shakes hands with everyone. SY arrived before him. then Uee comes over. then B. They all board but this time they fly economy. where is E though? I wonder if he quit.

they land and YSY says to the camera it will take 9 hrs total and they have to wait for their connecting flight – it will take another 3 hrs to get there.

the guys are in a bus and told this place is the famous malioboro. each member is asked to choose one envelope. HD asks do we get some kind of prize when we pick this? PD says yes. HD asks if they have started BF if they pick this. PD says yes. there is a name of a dish inside the envelope. you have to buy that at this market and come back. SY: and you wont tell us the way? PD says inside the envelope is the money you need. as each chooses the results will be different (cuz the food and cost varies so some might be easier to find). they have to do this quickly. they choose starting from the youngest so Uee goes first. she picks yellow cuz it’s the same color as her clothes. YSY asks when were you born so HJ says 6- 86 so YSY says I’m 9-86 so HJ is confused and asks then do I choose first. YSY: no cuz I am the maknae –why are you like that hyung. when HJ picks he waves his hands back and forth over the envelopes so SY asks was someone supposed to stop for you but HJ says I was going to do it. HD tells them not to look and then goes over their mission. since a variety of food is sold here –whoever buys that dish first and comes back and their fate for tm rests on that. HJ misunderstands a word and he thought it meant having charm cuz it sounds very similar so others laugh. Then Uee misunderstands the word “useful” and cracks them up. Uee and B get the same food item friend rice. the guys make fun of each food name cuz it sounds similar to Korean words. HJ jokes SY’s sounds like “teeth are breaking.” JS seems to know what each food item consists of like he has been here before.

HD counts down and HJ goes out the door first. crowds scream as members run off with bodyguards. Uee says I cant see anything cuz of all the people.  he asks the crowd for help and they tell him where to go. JS comments I can go comfortably cuz everyone is following HJ. B says the same thing – it’s nice cuz no one is around. the guys try to ask the vendors if they sell the food item and if they don’t members ask where it is and get pointed in the right direction. HJ finds YSY’s food item but cant remember who got that. fans point to the food so YSY buys some. he tries to ask for plastic to get it to go but the man doesn’t have it. YSY says what to do. HJ finds his item. HD asks questions about certain food items. if it tastes good. he makes one high five. YSY is served his portion in a bowl so he cant take it. he asks the crowd I need plastic. no one has it? suddenly a woman hands him a plastic tumbler so he thanks her and then thanks the massive crowd around him. I think he has more than HJ even. JS yells at his shrimp to cook quickly. B asks the woman to hurry. B gets his crab – that was so not fried rice like JS said in the car. SY gets his ribs. JS and SY shove their way back to the bus. they all run back. B thinks he is first. HD gets there first then B, YSY, Uee, JS, SY, and HJ. HD says I am first so PD says you get to choose first among these envelopes. you can touch them first and then choose. each has money inside but HD only got 10 cents. YSY chooses the one in the middle and wonders why it’s so thin – he got nothing. JS got 10,000. HJ got 5,000. SY got 3,000, Uee got 6,500, and B got 8,000. they all eat their food and share some too. JS says the seasoning is yummy. they think they should take it back to korea and open a chain.

at 11 at night they go to their residence. it’s got bunk beds so Uee takes the top and HJ takes the top of the other one. B takes the one below Uee so HD says in case she falls so you can protect her. they are woken at 4am. YSY rolls over and lightly bangs his head against the wall. probably thinking why did I sign up for this show. they get their backpacks. YSY has to keep passing them over to the others. HJ says again with the bags. PD explains they have to carry things for people (vendors) at the fruit market (like an Indonesian version of a farmer’s market). HD says it will be difficult work.

in the car ride over in the dark, HD talks about their mission at the market and when they arrive it’s 4:30am. he points out the full moon.

they look at the various fruit and wonder what it is. they say how this market is famous for Gendong – where people – mostly older women carry massive loads of fruit on their backs to the trucks for vendors.

the members put on sarongs over their shorts and have long ropes of fabric to tie the loads they will be carrying. they all yell out gendong over and over. HD gets the first job – to carry 58 kgs. he tries to negotiate the price up to 3,000 or even 2,500 but she motions he is strong and sticks with 2,000. he yells it hurts too much and puts the load down. he says it burns cuz it poked his back. older women do this without a word of complaint though. he makes it to the truck and gets paid. HJ gets a job and this is too heavy. it’s 60kgs. so now he says gendong with no strength in his voice. he wonders what to do – it looks too heavy. he gets it on his back and continues to say gendong through gritted teeth. an older woman follows him to guide his way so he says “ugghhh-  it’s ok –ugghh – mother – hurry up-where? SY sees him and says daebak. after he puts it down I think he said he was hurting cuz the guy massages his shoulders. he got paid a lot – 5,000. B has to carry the same weight as himself – 61kgs. he almost sits down as soon as he has it on his back. as soon as he unloads on the truck he slides down and sits. a passing grandma carrying a heavy load looks over at him and smiles. JS wanders around saying I don’t have any work. he tries to steal other people’s jobs. B has a job and JS offers to do it for 1,500. SY has a job so JS goes over and says I will do this for 1,500. YSY comes over then B so JS has an idea to see who gets the job among the 3 of them. JS wants an audition – which one you like the most out of the 3 of us. girl wants them to dance Gee gee gee. HJ comes over and says this one is mine. this was originally mine.  she asks for them to dance so HJ breaks out his gee gee moves and YSY joins him saying let me do it too. he does it cuter and wins the job. HD finds a job that’s 70kgs. he says no problem but he can barely stand or walk with it. when he puts the load down he doesn’t get
back up. money is slipped into his hand. next load is 85 kg. SY says that’s way heavier than me. HD goes again and cant talk as he walks. he says omg gendong. HJ goes again and then Uee. then the others. some spill and get dirty looks from the vendors.

at 8:30 am they gather to see who made the most money. they have to earn a combined 70,000 to pay for their accommodation and with the rest they can have breakfast. HD asks how much HJ made. JS says the people here are the same as from our country –they give work to good looking or strong people. HJ made 30,000. minus what he earned yesterday. HD pretends to dig in his pockets to pull out a large wad of cash but he doesn’t have much. (cuz he only got paid 2,000 for his jobs). JS and SY say there isnt much – he didn’t get paid properly. he got exactly 10,000 for 5 jobs. YSY laughs loudly. HD says I just wanted to compete (against the heavy loads). JW: but we have to earn. HJ earned the most. including yesterday HJ earned 36,000. they think the jobs were based on looks. YSY says I have to manage the money so HJ wants to “spend as much as you have and eat as much as you have.”JS says aren’t we your close friends. HJ: like SY hyung said yesterday we aren’t that close yet. SY: no I think we are close. one by one they start to kiss up to HJ. JS says from the first time SS501 came out, everyone my age read it as SS5. he basically compliments HJ but SY says I am so close that I showered with HJ before. HJ: that’s right. YSY: to tell the truth – at first I struggled over whether to do this, but since they said HJ was doing this so I came out. SY: me too. HD: say it properly (as in don’t lie) so YSY says for real. it’s ok if I don’t eat. Uee: While doing this my ideal (guy) changed. HJ suddenly yells out “Uee  – deal” and hands over some money. I cant hear why SY said – I think it was say last farewell to HJ so it makes HJ laugh. HJ says let’s combine the money and subtract 70,000 and try to eat what we can with it. they hand their money over to HJ but realize YSY should manage it so they give it to him. they don’t give him enough time to count it all before they leave. SY says last time you didn’t calculate the money well (when they didn’t have enough money leftover after food) so YSY explains and says this time I can get it reduced with a family discount. SY: how much is the total. YSY: this? I have to count it up – you don’t have to worry. famous last words

going to rush through the rest of this cuz I have to recap Gu and Nine tonight. basically they get to a buffet restaurant and eat too much so they are short 50,000 . poor YSY was so distracted cuz he was worried there wouldn’t be enough money so he was the last to eat. they end up drawing straws to pick two guys to go back and carry more stuff to pay back the staff who lent them that money. it ends up being HD and SY.

For some reason E is missing from this trip – not sure why. Wonder if the rest will follow soon. Maybe he just wanted to get out of doing this. I think the next episode will be more visually stunning cuz watching a market for over 20 mins was just too long.

This show is starting to lose its luster with me –some of the shine has worn off and now I’m left questioning just how much I love YSY, Uee, and KHJ to keep this up. Just wish there wasnt so much talking. 1n2d has more games so there is less to translate, but these guys talk nonstop and half the audio is so bad it’s hard to hear.
