I love how this drama takes a simple scene and turns it into something so beautiful that it makes your heart ache just from watching. But I hate that there are so many more painful scenes yet to come where we are going to shed more tears and feel our hearts breaking again and again right along with the characters. With each new revelation every week, it’s getting closer and closer to the end of the drama. That’s the part I dread the most. Pretty soon, D’s disability will come to light and he will find out about W knowing all along. I dont even want to imagine how that’s going to play out – all I know is that there is going to be some major incoherent typing during those scenes. This writer seems to have quite the talent for wringing out the tears from us, but still making us want to come back for more with all those wonderful moments that make us inhale and forget to exhale.
As long as she continues to write this like, I’m pretty sure no one will be complaining. I just wonder if this is going to end like Smile You with everyone’s future fast forwarded. Can you picture Y smiling and laughing with grandchildren all around him? That would be priceless. JK Rowling said she knew what the last line of the Harry Potter series was going to be before she even finished writing it. I wonder if that’s the same for this writer. Something tells me somewhere in that last scene, D is going to call out to W with one of his catch phrases. That way we can all grin as we say goodbye to this gem of a drama.

Now that two of the kids came back for their scenes (young M and young W), I wonder if young D will come back too. Maybe a flashback scene with young W or a scene where after he started talking again after the accident, he sits down and tells his mom and M everything he saw that night his grandpa died. It just doesnt seem complete without young D coming out again.

M explains how she has something to say to M for the last time and tells D to go. D walks off in the other direction. M says to W:let’s go. she goes after him.
M asks where she wants to go-if there is some place she wants to go she can say it. when he turns to ask “where”, she wipes his blood from his lips. M says: I am a doctor- this much of an *injury should be left alone – if you mess with it- it could change. if there is nowhere you want to go then I am just going to go anywhere
W: maru oppa -today is my first day at work so can we just go quickly and just talk and come back. she changes her mind and says let’s just go. he asks why she is like that suddenly. M: why ask that? if you have to go just go. W: cuz you are my oppa -right now you are maru oppa. normally I obeyed you well. did you forget that?
* it was clear from the language that when he talked about his lip cut he was referring to his heart so I had to make sure I kept the exact same words in korean to english-if she is nice like that then it’s harder for him to let her go
choi is on the phone and D goes in to see him. choi says into the phone that choi was wrong and asks if the other person is going to cut ties with choi over this and agrees to meet the person later. D asks what choi is going to do with J. choi says he doesnt want to see J so he is going to get rid of him where choi cant see him. D: dad – J didnt do this alone. the person you pretend to be your son is involved so do you have to go that far? choi says that D is the one who ignored his warning-learn what happens when you dont listen to what I say. leave.
D: but I am still your son so cant you overlook this just once
choi: if you are going to beg for forgiveness do it properly on your knees and beg
D tells him to do whatever he wants and leaves
D goes to his office tells everyone there is no meeting today and calls MS in. she is excited he asked to see her and asks others if D asked to see her without adding the MS-“shi” and just called her kang MS. D asks her for a favor – to call her dad and gather other men (who have the most stocks). she asks why suddenly and he says he will explain later and asks for them to all meet after lunch. she says she will try to get in done and he puts his hand on her shoulder and says she is the only one he can trust so she says he can trust her and she can do this.
MS tells D not to turn off his phone cuz she will call him after she meets her dad. D thanks her. she says he doesnt have to say that between them (she implied since they are close). W shows up and D doesnt say anything to W and just walks off. MS is happy so she offers to buy W a meal and tells her to make time. MS runs after D asking him to go together but of course he didnt hear that again.
nam asks W if grandma is better. nam tells W to go home and rest today too and start work next week cuz W’s face isnt someone who can sell makeup right now. W says she is ok and can sell and that she even got an order from the wife of someone at the garden-just one sun cream. nam says that W led a life like hers and is like her. W asks if that means she takes after nam. Nam tells W not to take after her and take after her dad. nam asks if Y said anything. W asks what and nam says there is no reason for her to know. Nam: my private life is – she signs “secret”. W wonders where she learned that
T is meeting with wives who invested. they say that they trusted T and invested. T says the money didnt go anywhere and energy cell is doing well so what is the problem. they say they heard about choi and the investment company. T gets a text and D comes in and says hello to the women and asks to speak to his mom later. wives want to meet J or else take back their money. T says she will call them after discussing with J
T asks D what he is doing in front of investors wives. D takes his mom’s cell phone and reads a text. D asks if J is only worth 120 (not sure what this is – stocks or what). T says this doesnt have anything to do with J. D: if it doesnt have anything to do with J then why wait and (do something) with the stocks. my mom is impressive. T says all she did was follow what J chose to do and J decided this too. D : you did? I didnt know that- then this is my decision and calls someone saying he is D from WK group and asks to meet over the problem with the investment company-cant tell you over the phone cuz my ears are —he was going to say i cant hear. T was hitting him and asking what he is doing then takes the phone away. she asks what he is doing and she gets a call. he tells her to pick up or should he call that person again . she hits him asking how he could threaten her like that (about his deafness). D holds her wrist and says : cuz this is what you are most afraid of. D wants all the investors gathered at WK right away. D tells her to pick up the phone. T says J spent the money like he wanted so why is D trying to take responsibility for it
W and M are walking together. she says it’s nice here and looks like the botanical garden. she asks why he is looking at her and he says she gained a lot of nerve cuz now she is walking next to him shoulder to shoulder instead of chasing from behind. he says before she couldnt even look at him in the eyes, but now it’s no big deal. she says she said everything she wanted to say. M:I’m sick of it. W:of what? M: when I open my eyes and think about what you said while we were eating there is only one thing: “I like oppa so why do you not like me-it doesnt matter cuz I like oppa.” W:when did I say that?
young W runs by calling out “oppa”
M: cant be helped if you dont remember
young W chases after young M.
he tells her not to follow him cuz it’s bothersome

he says no – watching her live a hard life he would have just gotten more angry

W asks why M told her to go with him at the police station- when he held her hand and left with her -you said “follow your brother and come with me”. M: dummy – you believed those words? in the end I left you alone and didnt come back.
she pulls out his old watch and asks :if you were going to do that-why did you leave me this?
they sit and talk. she says oppa and he says wait a minute. he pulls out earphones. he tells her -while they listen to the song -until it is over-she should think about her one wish and tell it to him- leaving out living with her family. they share ear buds and a red shoe falls in front of them. young M is in front trying to get the shoe back and young W tells him to hurry. M hands it to young M and they both smile.
young M gives her back her shoes and they hold hands and leave. he tells her not to toss her shoes. YW:why? when it’s fun. YM: even tho- dont do it. dont copy anything dad does cuz it’s foolish. YW:what’s wrong with that? fools are nice ppl. when I grow up, I am going to be a fool for real. she keeps throwing her shoes and he tells her not to so he holds the shoe out of her reach and she keeps asking for it back
M looks at W and puts both earbuds in her ear. he tells her: you are really really like a fool- cuz you live like this -it makes me more like a bad person. she asks what he said cuz she cant hear. he covers both her ears with his hands and says with his face turned to the side:this bad guy is choi’s son so now I cant even be your older brother-and you said you didnt like me as a man. what do I do with you?
choi meets with investors. choi tells them that J – without any fear- took their investment and turned around and put it all into energy cell. choi says that he felt he needed to tell them. one guy asks choi to take responsibility since he tricked them. choi tells them to stop or take back their investment and report J. and choi will refund them for something. wives show up saying J told them to come here. D shows up and introduces himself. choi tells him to leave but D tells them that everyone here invested cuz they trusted choi and T – not J. but now turning over all the blame to J -WK’s pride wont allow that to happen. choi asks who D is to do this. D tells everyone something about 70% of their investment . if they take back their money -doesnt it mean they dont trust WK. choi tells D not to make this bigger cuz he is done talking about it. D says that is only what choi thinks- WK is not choi’s own personal company. MS shows up with her dad and other men. D tells everyone to listen to kang and them and decide one more time if they are going to take back their investment or take their investment profits
choi yells at D for making choi -his father “swallow water” to save J. D says choi isnt the only one who can do this and that D warned choi not to mess with J. choi asks if D doesnt know that if he does this it will get more dangerous for J. D: yes I did but i thought of something else-while you are holding onto J and being stretched out I could steal that president position. D makes a threat that if investors know that choi did something with “system something” on his own then it will be easier (for D to steal the president position) choi asks why D is doing this- J is not family and choi is his dad so how could he do this. D asks if choi was his father. choi:what? D: what am I supposed to look at and think of you as my father?
stepping on his son to protect his president position? to block his son’s path-and using J like that. what exactly was it that you were doing that’s acting like a father – let me know. do you have anything else to say? choi asks why D changed so much – did you really lose your memory in the accident? D: why are you curious about that? is there something I shouldnt have remembered? choi says it’s nothing and tells him to leave. D says if he remembers he will tell choi first-who knows – I might end up liking you dad.
D goes to his office and looks at the hackysack and closes his eyes holding it
M and W are eating ramen. M says she bought bread with egg, split fried pork cutlets, and ending with ramen.this is really hurting the pride of your brother who has a lot of money. W:instead of making your younger sibling who doesnt have money feel bad-just hurry and eat it before the soup is gone. he asks if she thought about her wish. W:yes- with the whole family….M says he already said he wouldnt do that. W:cant you eat just one meal with us? you know grandma is sick right? dad doesnt have any other wish. all you have to do is eat one warm bowl of rice. you will do it right? M:no W:oppa
he said told her to leave out the family and she pleads again if he wont do it just once. he says he is full and she stands up: you are really bad all the way till the end maru oppa
ok then just live as doctorJang. cuz the doctor would have listened to my request.
M extends his hand saying -it was nice to meet you young MS.
she replies it was nice to meet you M oppa and cries then hugs him. M looks over to young M and young W.
young M gives young W flowers. YW: you said you didnt like flowers that it smelled like ant poop. YM:that’s why you take this -this is my heart. YW:huh? YM: take it -this is my heart.
YW:what is this? YM: dont you know what this is? YW:are you saying your heart is ant poop? he gets on his knees YM: it is this. YW: i dont want it-I like you oppa- you dont know anything. she walks off so he chases after her. he keeps trying to give her the flowers asking if she doesnt know what this is and she retorts she doesnt know. YM: when you dont know anything-that fool. he smiles and goes after her saying let’s go together.
M watches them leave. W gives back M his yellow watch. he says sorry-for not keeping his promise to come back. she turns and leaves. she runs behind young W and young M. M stands there holding the watch and looking heartbroken.
Y is throwing his shoes and catching it and asking if his mom remembers. she still doesnt know him. he says something she used to say and she is shocked he is using such bad words. she says if you say stuff like that you are a bad person and police will take you away. Y says that is right -she taught him that. Y sits next to her and she tells him to move away. she keeps wondering why young master Y is not coming. Y keeps saying he is Y-her son and not young master Y. she says she isnt his mom and thinks Y must be crazy. Y says they live the other way and W will be worried. she asks strangers if they saw her young master-his height comes up to her chest, his eyes are round, and his nose is long. Y tells her to look at him saying he has those features. but she doesnt know him and walks away from him. he keeps dancing around her saying he is her son.
SC helps grandma come in. grandma asks where this is. SC explains she can rest here until her family comes. grandma speaks formally to them. NB asks if the grandma wants to drink alcohol but grandma says she cant and NB and Y both cry. grandma asks what is wrong with them and SC explains there is a problem in their family right now. Y wonders when his mom will come back so NB explains when you sleep one night. they all try to get Y to go to sleep. NB sings grandma’s song really slowly and Y says that’s not it and stands and sings it.
everyone is sleeping except for Y. Y says now he can only look at his mom when she sleeps like he watched M when he slept. W comes in and Y tells her to be quiet. she asks if he is ok and he says even tho his mom doesnt remember him as long as he remembers his mom then it’s ok. Y shushes NB from talking
M is sitting in his car and gets a text. his sketch pops up and a voice asks who is M-before I report you call me. M goes and sees another doc. the doc asks if the sketch is M. M asks if he looks this funny. the doc says that when M doesnt smile he is a bit scary/cold looking but when he smiles it’s all melted. M says he will take it with him but the doc says just tell him that this is M and take the $50,000 reward. M: when i dont even know why they are looking for this person -you want me to just take the money. the doc says the person who resembles M is someone impressive. cuz after the posters went up, it was taken down my WK’s president’s wife. M:who said that? why would that person? doc says he doesnt know but a nurse saw T’s handbag and her bag costs as much as a car. the nurses made a big fuss over that. M asks if they are sure that T asked for all the pics to be taken down
M goes out and sees S on the phone. she is asking if they told choi that she is looking for him. she is annoyed that she is waiting for hours at the hospital. she sees M and hangs up. S: we keep running into each other a lot. you saw that sketch too. she saw him holding it.
M: you are not looking for me right?
she says why would she look for him-but what is unusual is nurses say the pic looks like J.
M asks who the person on the sketch is
S: someone I need to find. want to have a drink with me? I am bored out of my mind waiting for choi to call back.
M: why are you so upfront- dont you know when to be embarrassed?

she knows all about choi and me, but she is hanging on cuz she is afraid she will be thrown away.

M goes to his car and he is angry and crumples the sketch. he calls T and she asks if anything happened to him. he says no and asks where she is. she says at home-where are you? you turned you phone off so i worried a lot. he says he met someone at the hospital and says sorry-he will be home right away. he asks if she wants to eat anything-just say it and he will buy all of it and take it home. she tells him just to come and asks what he wants to eat- she will make it all. M:anything at all-I am hungry now. she tells him she will show him her talent and tells him to hurry and come. I made a mistake. cancel coming quickly- it’s ok to come slowly so drive carefully
S yells at choi-who is J to make them give up looking for M. she asks why choi got weak-why is choi scared of D. choi says he thinks D remembers the accident.S:what? then what do we do? choi:before he can say anything major- i have to cut him off. then something about how this world doesnt do something with weak ppl and D knows that too and is doing this. she worries about energy cell doing well. choi says he is going as planned to show this time very clearly that threats dont work on him
D goes out of his office and finds MS sleeping. he asks why she isnt leaving. she says she couldnt go in cuz he seemed busy and gives him food to eat. they eat together. she makes a comment about not liking short legged men referring to her dad and what she did to help out D. he grins and asks if she can talk about her dad that way. MS: i can do that cuz he is my dad
my dad likes it when I saw stuff like that. she says she has a good grip on her dad so D can ask her to do anything at all if he needs something from her dad. D tells her not to be nice to him cuz he cant do anything for her. MS: you dont have to do anything for me- just like me a little more than now.D says he has someone he likes. she asks who? “pianoist”?
she asks what the girl does. D says: she does this and that- all of it. MS: what do you like about her? D: she is cute/pretty MS: she is cute?
D: when I first saw her she tossed her shoes and it was so cute/pretty
MS:what is that?
SC’s store is opening. W helps clean and SC tells her not to. he makes her sit and gives her a drink. he says he brought her to see her face and not make her work. she says she came to help her friend. he tells her not to call him friend. he tells her not to sell cars or makeup and just sit here. she asks how she is going to make a living. he says he will ger everything he earns. Wwhy would I take your money? SC: you dont want money? he offers to buy her clothes and bag. I was shocked over that- cuz you dont have the personality to accept those things. who was it? D? J? whoever bought that- going to kick him out first. who was it?
she says J did. he is surprised cuz he thought it was D.
W: you might think it’s crazy -but he seesm like M oppa so I asked him to buy those things.
SC:what?
W: for 16 yrs since I kept looking for him but he doesnt show up so I was mad.
I was angry and J seemed a lot like M so I asked him to be my oppa
SC: W
W: I asked him to be my oppa and I was going to ask him to buy everything that I wanted to get from M oppa. buy me clothes, bags, buy them an apt, send me to college, and pay for grandma’s hospital’s bills
she cries so he takes her hands
W: but he said he didnt want to-he said he wouldnt be my brother SC.
SC calls her a dummy and says he will do all that-after working hard at this store
from now on I will do everything M couldnt do so it’s better now if you dont find M
what’s wrong if he isnt here? he hasnt been here up to now and it was ok.
W: ok now I am not going to look for him – I wont even think about oppa
SC says he was going to kill anyone who made her cry. since he made her cry he tells her to kill him. he leans in and tells her to kill him. she tells him to move away
he tells her to go home and sleep cuz her face is swollen from crying and leave the work here to him.
she says she came to help him.
he gets close to her face and says she will die if she does something
she leans in too. he tells her to go home and sleep for him too. he ushers her out.
D goes to her home and looks up at her window. the lights are off.
M is feeding T ice cream. he says he didnt do anything well today and wonders if he can get an award like this. she asks what he did wrong.
he says D suffered today cuz of him -said he would be my guardian angel from now on – D is all grown up. she says J worked really hard up till now-if it wasnt for you- we wouldnt have come this far- I mean this.
M;what did you like about me so much? if it was to the extent that you wanted me to be your son-that means you liked me a lot. what was so attractive about me? (attractive quality)
T: it wasnt an attractive quality- you becoming my son was fate.
when I first saw you at the award event, I felt sorry for you
until then – out of all the kids I saw -you were the most pitiful
M: why? cuz I didnt know who my mom was and cuz my dad was a fool?
she shakes her head: i didnt think you should be in that position

T calls choi’s secretary. she says choi wants to catch J that much to do that. if that is choi’s wish- she will give choi a present. she orders some business that I cant make heads or tails out of but scary music was playing so it seems like she ordered something bad – like she was handing over M’s head on a platter kind of evil.
W sees D sitting on the steps and calls out his name. he is looking at his phone and doesnt hear. she steps in front so he sees her feet. W: when did you come you should have called. he says cuz her lights were out. he asks if she was mad until now and she says she wasnt -she met M during the afternoon. D says sorry for not telling her ahead of time that M is her brother. he asks:when did you know? you must have been really upset with me… she suddenly bends down and kisses him. W:I’m sorry even when I found oppa I couldnt tell you. I’m sorry. D pulls her down and kisses her more – a lot more..
They are sitting on the steps, D is holding W in his arms. he tells her to go in a little later. he asks if M said he would go home. she shakes her head. D:are you ok? she nods her head. D:what do I do – I am so sorry for taking away your brother. she holds his arms and says in her head: I cant even say I am sorry- I am never ever going to tell anyone that M is choi’s son -that’s the only way everyone will be happy.
M stares at Y’s drawing for D. D walks over to M.
M asks what the fish names are. D says it all. M asks if those are names.

M reminds D that D is his angel so D says if M doesnt like it then M can fire D.
cuz D doesnt like his guardian angel “kid” and wanted to fire him
M hits D on the tummy for referring to his hyung as a “kid”
M asks if D can do it aone. D nods yes
M asks if D wants to go with him and give up on revenge and everything
D shakes his head no

D tells him to go ahead and he will follow him
M:you better keep your promise and dont be sick “hahaha”

SC store opening. grandma still doesnt remember and say she isnt Y’s mom. they tell her to sit and SC comes out with his parents. grandma keeps saying she has to go to young master Y.Y tells her she cant -today she has to play here and eat friedchicken. if you sleep one night, it’s tm. Y says tm young master will come. W says Y is doing well. Y says tm he just needs to tell his mom “tm” again.
NB tries to read his opening speech but his wife says just to cut the rope and start selling chicken cuz customers are waiting. SC calls W to come over and help cut the rope. and then Y and grandma too-cuz all of them are their whole family. he made everyone cut the rope. M shows up and watches
D is begging J to pick up the phone but M isnt. D gets a call so he pulls over and asks if MS got a hold of J. she says that J didnt come, but investigators came. D asks if the men are next to her so she whispers that those men are going thru their computer and files. D tells her to come out and talk cuz he cant hear well cuz she is whispering.
Y feeds grandma. W says she is going to help SC and spots M watching grandma. grandma tells Y not to feed her and calls him ahjussi. Y tells her to eat.
W runs over and tells Y to help NB. Y asks what about his mom and W says she will watch over grandma as she comes and goes.
W looks over to see if M went over to grandma
SC comes over saying their parents are here- there is a lot of food, and lots of ppl so should they just get married today. SC’s parents want to hit him, but NB says leave him alone cuz SC is already crazy. W tells SC to go work. she gets a call.
D calls W and asks if M came there and she starts to explain he is with grandma but D tells her he will be there soon and to hold onto M cuz it’s an emergency.
grandma wraps up some chicken. M goes up to her and she explains she is going to give this to her young master and she wasnt stealing it. he calls her grandma. she says she isnt an grandma-why does everyone call her that. M:what is this? why are you making me the bad guy all the way till the end? you just made me into the bad guy -what is this? if you are like this then I cant hate you. Y sees M thru the window. OMG he knows
D pulls up and tells M that a problem occurred so he needs to hurry and leave. grandma tells M to take this chicken cuz she can wrap up some more and puts it in M’s hand. D tries to take M away but Y yells out D’s name and M looks at Y
Y cries and grabs D’s arm and Y says twice: there are a lot of ppl so my Maru will be embarrassed. D looks at M. Y: cha dong joo shi just help me out once -please take my maru to our home just once-just once help me-if we go home my maru wont be embarrassed.. just once – i promise I wont act like I know him…just once
W cries watching her dad. M looks at Y begging and cries. Y never looks at M and begs D to help him take M home just once over and over

Y’s love for his son knows no bounds – after all these years waiting for him – he doesnt get angry first for abandoning his family – all Y cares is to bring his son home just once so that he can feed him and watch him sleep again I bet – that kind of sincere heart – after the rejection from his own birth parents- how can it not break M’s heart?
It just occurred to me – choi and S have been staring at M day in and day out and don’t know who he is, but Y sees him for one second thru a window and he instantly knows-now you tell me -who is his true parent huh? The way Y doesnt even think of himself and only thinks of M first – if that isn’t the definition of a great parent then I don’t know what is.
Since E21 will start with this scene, I wonder if D will just take M away or if M will show some kindness to Y for the first time in his life. How cool with it be if he went and hid out in their home, but I guess M might not be ready for that. I just hope M’s tears were regret for treating Y so bad in the past and maybe shedding them will finally free him of some of the guilt he carried around in his heart for mistreating Y all those years. If only M could go home and let Y feed him just once, then Y can finally heal too. Losing a son all those years must have been anguish for him and Y deserves some closure.

I love how this drama takes a simple scene and turns it into something so beautiful that it makes your heart ache just from watching. But I hate that there are so many more painful scenes yet to come where we are going to shed more tears and feel our hearts breaking again and again right along with the characters. With each new revelation every week, it’s getting closer and closer to the end of the drama. That’s the part I dread the most. Pretty soon, D’s disability will come to light and he will find out about W knowing all along. I dont even want to imagine how that’s going to play out – all I know is that there is going to be some major incoherent typing during those scenes. This writer seems to have quite the talent for wringing out the tears from us, but still making us want to come back for more with all those wonderful moments that make us inhale and forget to exhale.
As long as she continues to write this like, I’m pretty sure no one will be complaining. I just wonder if this is going to end like Smile You with everyone’s future fast forwarded. Can you picture Y smiling and laughing with grandchildren all around him? That would be priceless. JK Rowling said she knew what the last line of the Harry Potter series was going to be before she even finished writing it. I wonder if that’s the same for this writer. Something tells me somewhere in that last scene, D is going to call out to W with one of his catch phrases. That way we can all grin as we say goodbye to this gem of a drama.

Now that two of the kids came back for their scenes (young M and young W), I wonder if young D will come back too. Maybe a flashback scene with young W or a scene where after he started talking again after the accident, he sits down and tells his mom and M everything he saw that night his grandpa died. It just doesnt seem complete without young D coming out again.

D:that’s right – I will pay you back for protecting me the past 16yrs -I will be your guardian angel so from now on listen only to what I say. D notices W. M explains how she has something to say to M for the last time and tells D to go. D walks off in the other direction. M says to W:let’s go. she goes after him.
M asks where she wants to go-if there is some place she wants to go she can say it. when he turns to ask “where”, she wipes his blood from his lips. M says: I am a doctor- this much of an *injury should be left alone – if you mess with it- it could change. if there is nowhere you want to go then I am just going to go anywhere
W: maru oppa -today is my first day at work so can we just go quickly and just talk and come back. she changes her mind and says let’s just go. he asks why she is like that suddenly. M: why ask that? if you have to go just go. W: cuz you are my oppa -right now you are maru oppa. normally I obeyed you well. did you forget that?
* it was clear from the language that when he talked about his lip cut he was referring to his heart so I had to make sure I kept the exact same words in korean to english-if she is nice like that then it’s harder for him to let her go
choi is on the phone and D goes in to see him. choi says into the phone that choi was wrong and asks if the other person is going to cut ties with choi over this and agrees to meet the person later. D asks what choi is going to do with J. choi says he doesnt want to see J so he is going to get rid of him where choi cant see him. D: dad – J didnt do this alone. the person you pretend to be your son is involved so do you have to go that far? choi says that D is the one who ignored his warning-learn what happens when you dont listen to what I say. leave.
D: but I am still your son so cant you overlook this just once
choi: if you are going to beg for forgiveness do it properly on your knees and beg
D tells him to do whatever he wants and leaves
D goes to his office tells everyone there is no meeting today and calls MS in. she is excited he asked to see her and asks others if D asked to see her without adding the MS-“shi” and just called her kang MS. D asks her for a favor – to call her dad and gather other men (who have the most stocks). she asks why suddenly and he says he will explain later and asks for them to all meet after lunch. she says she will try to get in done and he puts his hand on her shoulder and says she is the only one he can trust so she says he can trust her and she can do this.
MS tells D not to turn off his phone cuz she will call him after she meets her dad. D thanks her. she says he doesnt have to say that between them (she implied since they are close). W shows up and D doesnt say anything to W and just walks off. MS is happy so she offers to buy W a meal and tells her to make time. MS runs after D asking him to go together but of course he didnt hear that again.
nam asks W if grandma is better. nam tells W to go home and rest today too and start work next week cuz W’s face isnt someone who can sell makeup right now. W says she is ok and can sell and that she even got an order from the wife of someone at the garden-just one sun cream. nam says that W led a life like hers and is like her. W asks if that means she takes after nam. Nam tells W not to take after her and take after her dad. nam asks if Y said anything. W asks what and nam says there is no reason for her to know. Nam: my private life is – she signs “secret”. W wonders where she learned that
T is meeting with wives who invested. they say that they trusted T and invested. T says the money didnt go anywhere and energy cell is doing well so what is the problem. they say they heard about choi and the investment company. T gets a text and D comes in and says hello to the women and asks to speak to his mom later. wives want to meet J or else take back their money. T says she will call them after discussing with J
T asks D what he is doing in front of investors wives. D takes his mom’s cell phone and reads a text. D asks if J is only worth 120 (not sure what this is – stocks or what). T says this doesnt have anything to do with J. D: if it doesnt have anything to do with J then why wait and (do something) with the stocks. my mom is impressive. T says all she did was follow what J chose to do and J decided this too. D : you did? I didnt know that- then this is my decision and calls someone saying he is D from WK group and asks to meet over the problem with the investment company-cant tell you over the phone cuz my ears are —he was going to say i cant hear. T was hitting him and asking what he is doing then takes the phone away. she asks what he is doing and she gets a call. he tells her to pick up or should he call that person again . she hits him asking how he could threaten her like that (about his deafness). D holds her wrist and says : cuz this is what you are most afraid of. D wants all the investors gathered at WK right away. D tells her to pick up the phone. T says J spent the money like he wanted so why is D trying to take responsibility for it
W and M are walking together. she says it’s nice here and looks like the botanical garden. she asks why he is looking at her and he says she gained a lot of nerve cuz now she is walking next to him shoulder to shoulder instead of chasing from behind. he says before she couldnt even look at him in the eyes, but now it’s no big deal. she says she said everything she wanted to say. M:I’m sick of it. W:of what? M: when I open my eyes and think about what you said while we were eating there is only one thing: “I like oppa so why do you not like me-it doesnt matter cuz I like oppa.” W:when did I say that?
young W runs by calling out “oppa”

young W chases after young M.

they sit and talk. she says oppa and he says wait a minute. he pulls out earphones. he tells her -while they listen to the song -until it is over-she should think about her one wish and tell it to him- leaving out living with her family. they share ear buds and a red shoe falls in front of them. young M is in front trying to get the shoe back and young W tells him to hurry. M hands it to young M and they both smile.
young M gives her back her shoes and they hold hands and leave. he tells her not to toss her shoes. YW:why? when it’s fun. YM: even tho- dont do it. dont copy anything dad does cuz it’s foolish. YW:what’s wrong with that? fools are nice ppl. when I grow up, I am going to be a fool for real. she keeps throwing her shoes and he tells her not to so he holds the shoe out of her reach and she keeps asking for it back
M looks at W and puts both earbuds in her ear. he tells her: you are really really like a fool- cuz you live like this -it makes me more like a bad person. she asks what he said cuz she cant hear. he covers both her ears with his hands and says with his face turned to the side:this bad guy is choi’s son so now I cant even be your older brother-and you said you didnt like me as a man. what do I do with you?
choi meets with investors. choi tells them that J – without any fear- took their investment and turned around and put it all into energy cell. choi says that he felt he needed to tell them. one guy asks choi to take responsibility since he tricked them. choi tells them to stop or take back their investment and report J. and choi will refund them for something. wives show up saying J told them to come here. D shows up and introduces himself. choi tells him to leave but D tells them that everyone here invested cuz they trusted choi and T – not J. but now turning over all the blame to J -WK’s pride wont allow that to happen. choi asks who D is to do this. D tells everyone something about 70% of their investment . if they take back their money -doesnt it mean they dont trust WK. choi tells D not to make this bigger cuz he is done talking about it. D says that is only what choi thinks- WK is not choi’s own personal company. MS shows up with her dad and other men. D tells everyone to listen to kang and them and decide one more time if they are going to take back their investment or take their investment profits
choi yells at D for making choi -his father “swallow water” to save J. D says choi isnt the only one who can do this and that D warned choi not to mess with J. choi asks if D doesnt know that if he does this it will get more dangerous for J. D: yes I did but i thought of something else-while you are holding onto J and being stretched out I could steal that president position. D makes a threat that if investors know that choi did something with “system something” on his own then it will be easier (for D to steal the president position) choi asks why D is doing this- J is not family and choi is his dad so how could he do this. D asks if choi was his father. choi:what? D: what am I supposed to look at and think of you as my father?
stepping on his son to protect his president position? to block his son’s path-and using J like that. what exactly was it that you were doing that’s acting like a father – let me know. do you have anything else to say? choi asks why D changed so much – did you really lose your memory in the accident? D: why are you curious about that? is there something I shouldnt have remembered? choi says it’s nothing and tells him to leave. D says if he remembers he will tell choi first-who knows – I might end up liking you dad.
D goes to his office and looks at the hackysack and closes his eyes holding it
M and W are eating ramen. M says she bought bread with egg, split fried pork cutlets, and ending with ramen.this is really hurting the pride of your brother who has a lot of money. W:instead of making your younger sibling who doesnt have money feel bad-just hurry and eat it before the soup is gone. he asks if she thought about her wish. W:yes- with the whole family….M says he already said he wouldnt do that. W:cant you eat just one meal with us? you know grandma is sick right? dad doesnt have any other wish. all you have to do is eat one warm bowl of rice. you will do it right? M:no W:oppa
he said told her to leave out the family and she pleads again if he wont do it just once. he says he is full and she stands up: you are really bad all the way till the end maru oppa
ok then just live as doctorJang. cuz the doctor would have listened to my request.
M extends his hand saying -it was nice to meet you young MS.
she replies it was nice to meet you M oppa and cries then hugs him. M looks over to young M and young W.
young M gives young W flowers. YW: you said you didnt like flowers that it smelled like ant poop. YM:that’s why you take this -this is my heart. YW:huh? YM: take it -this is my heart.
YW:what is this? YM: dont you know what this is? YW:are you saying your heart is ant poop? he gets on his knees YM: it is this. YW: i dont want it-I like you oppa- you dont know anything. she walks off so he chases after her. he keeps trying to give her the flowers asking if she doesnt know what this is and she retorts she doesnt know. YM: when you dont know anything-that fool. he smiles and goes after her saying let’s go together.
M watches them leave. W gives back M his yellow watch. he says sorry-for not keeping his promise to come back. she turns and leaves. she runs behind young W and young M. M stands there holding the watch and looking heartbroken.
Y is throwing his shoes and catching it and asking if his mom remembers. she still doesnt know him. he says something she used to say and she is shocked he is using such bad words. she says if you say stuff like that you are a bad person and police will take you away. Y says that is right -she taught him that. Y sits next to her and she tells him to move away. she keeps wondering why young master Y is not coming. Y keeps saying he is Y-her son and not young master Y. she says she isnt his mom and thinks Y must be crazy. Y says they live the other way and W will be worried. she asks strangers if they saw her young master-his height comes up to her chest, his eyes are round, and his nose is long. Y tells her to look at him saying he has those features. but she doesnt know him and walks away from him. he keeps dancing around her saying he is her son.
SC helps grandma come in. grandma asks where this is. SC explains she can rest here until her family comes. grandma speaks formally to them. NB asks if the grandma wants to drink alcohol but grandma says she cant and NB and Y both cry. grandma asks what is wrong with them and SC explains there is a problem in their family right now. Y wonders when his mom will come back so NB explains when you sleep one night. they all try to get Y to go to sleep. NB sings grandma’s song really slowly and Y says that’s not it and stands and sings it.
everyone is sleeping except for Y. Y says now he can only look at his mom when she sleeps like he watched M when he slept. W comes in and Y tells her to be quiet. she asks if he is ok and he says even tho his mom doesnt remember him as long as he remembers his mom then it’s ok. Y shushes NB from talking
M is sitting in his car and gets a text. his sketch pops up and a voice asks who is M-before I report you call me. M goes and sees another doc. the doc asks if the sketch is M. M asks if he looks this funny. the doc says that when M doesnt smile he is a bit scary/cold looking but when he smiles it’s all melted. M says he will take it with him but the doc says just tell him that this is M and take the $50,000 reward. M: when i dont even know why they are looking for this person -you want me to just take the money. the doc says the person who resembles M is someone impressive. cuz after the posters went up, it was taken down my WK’s president’s wife. M:who said that? why would that person? doc says he doesnt know but a nurse saw T’s handbag and her bag costs as much as a car. the nurses made a big fuss over that. M asks if they are sure that T asked for all the pics to be taken down
M goes out and sees S on the phone. she is asking if they told choi that she is looking for him. she is annoyed that she is waiting for hours at the hospital. she sees M and hangs up. S: we keep running into each other a lot. you saw that sketch too. she saw him holding it.
M: you are not looking for me right?
she says why would she look for him-but what is unusual is nurses say the pic looks like J.
M asks who the person on the sketch is
S: someone I need to find. want to have a drink with me? I am bored out of my mind waiting for choi to call back.

M goes to his car and he is angry and crumples the sketch. he calls T and she asks if anything happened to him. he says no and asks where she is. she says at home-where are you? you turned you phone off so i worried a lot. he says he met someone at the hospital and says sorry-he will be home right away. he asks if she wants to eat anything-just say it and he will buy all of it and take it home. she tells him just to come and asks what he wants to eat- she will make it all. M:anything at all-I am hungry now. she tells him she will show him her talent and tells him to hurry and come. I made a mistake. cancel coming quickly- it’s ok to come slowly so drive carefully
S yells at choi-who is J to make them give up looking for M. she asks why choi got weak-why is choi scared of D. choi says he thinks D remembers the accident.S:what? then what do we do? choi:before he can say anything major- i have to cut him off. then something about how this world doesnt do something with weak ppl and D knows that too and is doing this. she worries about energy cell doing well. choi says he is going as planned to show this time very clearly that threats dont work on him
D goes out of his office and finds MS sleeping. he asks why she isnt leaving. she says she couldnt go in cuz he seemed busy and gives him food to eat. they eat together. she makes a comment about not liking short legged men referring to her dad and what she did to help out D. he grins and asks if she can talk about her dad that way. MS: i can do that cuz he is my dad
my dad likes it when I saw stuff like that. she says she has a good grip on her dad so D can ask her to do anything at all if he needs something from her dad. D tells her not to be nice to him cuz he cant do anything for her. MS: you dont have to do anything for me- just like me a little more than now.D says he has someone he likes. she asks who? “pianoist”?
she asks what the girl does. D says: she does this and that- all of it. MS: what do you like about her? D: she is cute/pretty MS: she is cute?
D: when I first saw her she tossed her shoes and it was so cute/pretty
MS:what is that?
SC’s store is opening. W helps clean and SC tells her not to. he makes her sit and gives her a drink. he says he brought her to see her face and not make her work. she says she came to help her friend. he tells her not to call him friend. he tells her not to sell cars or makeup and just sit here. she asks how she is going to make a living. he says he will ger everything he earns. Wwhy would I take your money? SC: you dont want money? he offers to buy her clothes and bag. I was shocked over that- cuz you dont have the personality to accept those things. who was it? D? J? whoever bought that- going to kick him out first. who was it?
she says J did. he is surprised cuz he thought it was D.
W: you might think it’s crazy -but he seesm like M oppa so I asked him to buy those things.
SC:what?
W: for 16 yrs since I kept looking for him but he doesnt show up so I was mad.
I was angry and J seemed a lot like M so I asked him to be my oppa
SC: W
W: I asked him to be my oppa and I was going to ask him to buy everything that I wanted to get from M oppa. buy me clothes, bags, buy them an apt, send me to college, and pay for grandma’s hospital’s bills
she cries so he takes her hands

SC calls her a dummy and says he will do all that-after working hard at this store

M is feeding T ice cream. he says he didnt do anything well today and wonders if he can get an award like this. she asks what he did wrong.
he says D suffered today cuz of him -said he would be my guardian angel from now on – D is all grown up. she says J worked really hard up till now-if it wasnt for you- we wouldnt have come this far- I mean this.
M;what did you like about me so much? if it was to the extent that you wanted me to be your son-that means you liked me a lot. what was so attractive about me? (attractive quality)
T: it wasnt an attractive quality- you becoming my son was fate.
when I first saw you at the award event, I felt sorry for you

W sees D sitting on the steps and calls out his name. he is looking at his phone and doesnt hear. she steps in front so he sees her feet. W: when did you come you should have called. he says cuz her lights were out. he asks if she was mad until now and she says she wasnt -she met M during the afternoon. D says sorry for not telling her ahead of time that M is her brother. he asks:when did you know? you must have been really upset with me… she suddenly bends down and kisses him. W:I’m sorry even when I found oppa I couldnt tell you. I’m sorry. D pulls her down and kisses her more – a lot more..
They are sitting on the steps, D is holding W in his arms. he tells her to go in a little later. he asks if M said he would go home. she shakes her head. D:are you ok? she nods her head. D:what do I do – I am so sorry for taking away your brother. she holds his arms and says in her head: I cant even say I am sorry- I am never ever going to tell anyone that M is choi’s son -that’s the only way everyone will be happy.
M stares at Y’s drawing for D. D walks over to M.
M asks what the fish names are. D says it all. M asks if those are names.

SC store opening. grandma still doesnt remember and say she isnt Y’s mom. they tell her to sit and SC comes out with his parents. grandma keeps saying she has to go to young master Y.Y tells her she cant -today she has to play here and eat friedchicken. if you sleep one night, it’s tm. Y says tm young master will come. W says Y is doing well. Y says tm he just needs to tell his mom “tm” again.
NB tries to read his opening speech but his wife says just to cut the rope and start selling chicken cuz customers are waiting. SC calls W to come over and help cut the rope. and then Y and grandma too-cuz all of them are their whole family. he made everyone cut the rope. M shows up and watches
D is begging J to pick up the phone but M isnt. D gets a call so he pulls over and asks if MS got a hold of J. she says that J didnt come, but investigators came. D asks if the men are next to her so she whispers that those men are going thru their computer and files. D tells her to come out and talk cuz he cant hear well cuz she is whispering.
Y feeds grandma. W says she is going to help SC and spots M watching grandma. grandma tells Y not to feed her and calls him ahjussi. Y tells her to eat.
W runs over and tells Y to help NB. Y asks what about his mom and W says she will watch over grandma as she comes and goes.
W looks over to see if M went over to grandma
SC comes over saying their parents are here- there is a lot of food, and lots of ppl so should they just get married today. SC’s parents want to hit him, but NB says leave him alone cuz SC is already crazy. W tells SC to go work. she gets a call.
D calls W and asks if M came there and she starts to explain he is with grandma but D tells her he will be there soon and to hold onto M cuz it’s an emergency.
grandma wraps up some chicken. M goes up to her and she explains she is going to give this to her young master and she wasnt stealing it. he calls her grandma. she says she isnt an grandma-why does everyone call her that. M:what is this? why are you making me the bad guy all the way till the end? you just made me into the bad guy -what is this? if you are like this then I cant hate you. Y sees M thru the window. OMG he knows

Y’s love for his son knows no bounds – after all these years waiting for him – he doesnt get angry first for abandoning his family – all Y cares is to bring his son home just once so that he can feed him and watch him sleep again I bet – that kind of sincere heart – after the rejection from his own birth parents- how can it not break M’s heart?
It just occurred to me – choi and S have been staring at M day in and day out and don’t know who he is, but Y sees him for one second thru a window and he instantly knows-now you tell me -who is his true parent huh? The way Y doesnt even think of himself and only thinks of M first – if that isn’t the definition of a great parent then I don’t know what is.
Since E21 will start with this scene, I wonder if D will just take M away or if M will show some kindness to Y for the first time in his life. How cool with it be if he went and hid out in their home, but I guess M might not be ready for that. I just hope M’s tears were regret for treating Y so bad in the past and maybe shedding them will finally free him of some of the guilt he carried around in his heart for mistreating Y all those years. If only M could go home and let Y feed him just once, then Y can finally heal too. Losing a son all those years must have been anguish for him and Y deserves some closure.

I couldn’t even watch ep.19 without fast forwarding…JH’s behavior with granny disgusted me and on the top of it the overkill of his scenes…arghh…
Even today, I have yet to watch the show…Just read Softy’s recap…thanks to her, at least I can decided before actually d/l ing….

Hi there! Please don’t give up on this drama, I agree on the past eps that too much of JH/MR but that’s been set up from the beginning, so the writer needs to bring nice closure to this problem first, before we moves other plot development. I’m glad she did three major revelations in 3-4eps (JH is MR, MR is Choi’s son, YG found MR) and way before the finale too. Also, MR can be seen as one example of normal ppl in today society learning to value/adjust to/embrace and accept ppl with disabilities into their life. It’s just like they(the disabilities) are calling out to us ‘Do you hear my heart?’

I have a question . . . do you think there’s any significance to Grandma calling YG “Young Master?” Because, usually, isn’t that something reserved for a rich child – only a maid/nanny would use that term? So, could that mean YG is actually from a rich family, who threw him away because of his deficiency, which is why Grandma adopted him? Or is it simply a pet name she used when he was younger? So curious. . .

I was wondering when they were going to start developing that story line. They made it clear from the beginning that Y was not Grandma’s son, but they never gave an explanation. Do you think she kidnapped him? We only have 10 more episodes to go and there is still a lot of story to tell.
-Who is W’s real father?
-Who is Y?
-Who is Nam?
-When will S and Choi realize that J is their son?
-What will MS do when she realized that both J and D like W?
-What’s gonna happen with the company?

I think it’s unlikely she kidnapped him, seeing as how she has all the adoption paperwork (plus, trying to hide such a special child when you’re poor would be difficult . . . especially when Korean parents are often defined by their children; aka, Seung Chul’s mother, Ma Roo’s father, Young Gyu’s mother, etc.)
I can’t believe we still have 10 episodes left!! So many interesting questions still left to answer! I can’t wait to see what will be revealed next!! 🙂

I think WR brought them to show the grandmother when she was trying to convince her to come home (she had several papers with her, and pointed to each name in turn, so I just assumed she’d brought them both). Looking back, I’m probably wrong though, lol.
Still, I think the kidnapping angle is unlikely; though it’d definitely be surprising if that turned out to be the case!

I thought the adoption is for WR … the link between YG & grandmother is through the “fake marriage” to SN (the daughter) since she conceived MR that time … else how can YG claimed to be the father to SN’s son… don’t u think so? well .. i could be lost on this …

I don’t think their main link is through the fake marriage – I’m sure she was raising Y as her son even before S got pregnant with M. When S abandoned them, she just put Y’s name on the birth certificate in place of her daughter. That way, when people started asking questions, she could just tell them the mother ran off without bothering to elaborate…
Since everybody knows Y isn’t hers biologically, it would just make sense that she has the paperwork to prove it; just like W does.

I think in this episode, DJ has already made clear to MS that he’s out of the market(as in has girlfriend) and MS responsed in kind so I think when she knows it’s WR, shouldn’t be quite a blow to her.
I don’t think we have time to go into WR’s dad or YG story, but who knows. As for, what will happen to the company? It’s already started to tell, but don’t know how to explain this. ^^

MS seems like a sensible person, but I have seen enough Kdramas to know that these are the ones that go crazy when their love is not returned. It’s okay when he likes someone you don’t know. You can image that that person is better than you, but when it is a friend you will be hurt. Especially when that friends knows you like D. I don’t think she will hurt WR, but we may have a small scene where she refuses to help D (with her dad) because she is upset. However, I hope that doesn’t happen.

It’s likely that Grandma adopted YG when she worked for his family and as he grew up his own family realised he wasn’t ‘normal’ so they asked her to adopt him and call him her own son. I’ve wondered for awhile now how they managed to have a house that they could sell off (of course the house could have been in grandma’s family for ages but because of SA’s attitude I don’t get the feeling they had any money in the past) and use the funds of towards finding Maru. Perhaps YG’s real family gave grandma the house and some money as pay off to keep their son. I wouldn’t have thought an old lady selling vegetables in the market could have made such a lot of money that she could afford to help someone else pay off their debts, maybe grandma had always considered that money as YG’s and that was why she so readily helped MS when she found out about her financial problems. Although grandma’s heart must be really soft anyway since she took in someone else’s child as her own. Only trouble is she overlooked her own daughter and I’m wondering if it isn’t too late to salvage that oversight.
Some thing just occurred to me about MR/SA/Choi – the writers have made these three really obssessive when trying to get hold of something they want instead of settling for what they do have. This family is a bit scary.

Yes born in Seoul, but grew up in the states from the age of 6. That’s why my Korean is so bad. Stopped speaking Korean at 6 and picked it back up in college with the basics “hi” and “bye” – took forever to get it right cuz there are two different ways of saying “goodbye”- how you say it depends on if the other person leaves or stays. took me months to get that straight 🙂 it got to a point where I just didn’t bother to say goodbye and just waved my hand. If they were older than me, out of respect, I bowed then waved (in Korean culture, that’s pretty rude to wave at someone who is older but I was desperate so I threw in apologetic smiles with the wave)
Still don’t know any terms that are medical ( as evidenced by any character getting sick in any of the past dramas), business (just look how totally lost I was during Midas), musical (refer to dream high recaps), floral ( I don’t know any of the flowers mentioned in best love in Korean and some I don’t even know what they look like in English-I had to google their pictures)
But at least I have a sincere desire to get my translations as close to what the characters say so I hope I get credit for that. 🙂
Basically what you are reading every week is my fervent desire to help convey how crucial accurate translations can be in enhancing the scene and not pay a disservice to the writer’s original intent. I noticed with this drama, except for all the business talk, it’s relatively easy to translate the rest. loving the drama goes a long way towards having more of the dialogue translated. The better the drama, the longer the post. 🙂 these are super duper long.

In my country also has this, but one is rarely used. The ”goodbye’ is never used here I live, even if won’t see each other again you still say ”let’s met another time” ”See you next time” when we never met again LOL.

Dear Softy, I really love you take up your time for the recap (on weekends) and it really helps me to understand the characters better (ahem even when they kissed…). Writer Moon has put in many tiny little details to define her characters(in the drama), without your help, her delicate work might have gone to waste, lost in the translation. I love the scene between JH and DJ’s mom, she showed her motherly caring side for JH tonight, her voice was kind of sooth him to calm down. I think DJ’s mom won’t hurt JH, seems she really loves JH as her son.
And the little kids, is that what MR wants it to be?
YG wants MR to go to his house, but JH is running out of time cuz of the investigation, so if he chooses to do what YG wants, then he might get caught. Poor DJ, I want to poke JH’s head, why can’t he go just once when WR asked? Then it wouldn’t have come to this.
Well, tell you the truth, I really don’t care much now cuz I have the KISS scene to cherish by myself heehee!

Thanks for providing the recaps softy. After reading your last comment, it just occurred to me that this show is showing another aspect of family. That is what makes a parent your parent, what makes a family, family? M was actually abandoned by both birth parents who are now looking for him not for familial love but more in a opportunistic sense. They would not know him once they see him because they threw him away from the start. M got real love from his grandma and adoptive family but rejected it because of how society looks at him and the family, now he feels shame. He receives brotherly love from D and in order to repay him is trying to get back WK.
I think its time that D acknowledges and accepts his deafness in public which is a bit difficult as well as it will be used as a weapon against him by Choi and others. It is nice to show that he can function well but in a way can be used to teach society that just because you have a handicap you cannot live and change people’s perception of this.

Oh please writer, don’t make DJ’s deafness be revealed in the shareholder meeting without DJ being informed first! Choi already had plan for DJ, if only he knew about DJ’s deafness. I wonder when the story of Choi killed grandpa will be out, that should be able to blow him out of WK, but more evidence is needed other than DJ’s eye-witness, may be a secret document from grandpa?

I did rewind the kissing scene a few times.However it was not for the reason you think.We’ve had kisses on all 4 dramas I am following RT,GL,LTM and CYHMH.However what I wanted to say was how tender was the scene?It was so sweet and beautifully written in and just fits the whole flow of the story.
Man the cinematography for this drama is superb.The flashback scenes were just so beautifully done.
The one that got me most of all was the father.I really really FEEL for him.Can he win a supporting actor role or something?He has to win an award for this show.I can’t believe how much I love the father.This is really a family drama and I don’t believe it when people call it a melo/makjang.This is emotional and it makes sense.Not the angst thrown in just for the plot sakes.
Thank again.I will see you tomorrow for LTM.I am just about to die from the angst for that drama.CYHMH is like a breathe of fresh air every weekend.It is just so beautiful.

Oh you are GOOD Almondfudge- I didn’t realize that till you said it – also someone else pointed out tonight’s kiss scene was a reversal of the other “step” kiss where D was standing lower on the steps than her. But I kinda like this one more – for the obvious reasons and cuz omg it was just so perfect and unexpected. Who knew that the plus side of having so many dramas in May would be having all these kiss scenes to compare. 🙂

BEST KISS EVER! We were due for some nice love and affection after all the tears.
I can’t even bring the images of YM/ YWR up in my brain without sobbing.
How deftly was that scene put together? These people are geniuses, I tell you.
Adult M, handing the shoe off to YM, and then smiling — I had to hit the pause button for a good 60 seconds to cry.
I don’t know if there is an award for most effective use of child and adult versions of the same character in one scene, but THIS SHOW WINS!
Now for the moment we have all been waiting for, Adult M gets his heart broken for all the mean and nasty things he has said to and about Y.
OK FINE. He deserves to feel awful.

Oh I saw the LTM first kiss and didn’t even feel like watching the second one…They are so out there and umm…lust filled??? I mean, they didn’t even establish a proper friendship/relationship/acquaintance and they are already out there making out…Please don’t get offended the LTM fans…this is just my opinion…
But the CYHMH kiss is soooo poignant, subtle, so full of love,affection, trust,interdependence and all kinds of good things you can think about….It was taken so well, that I actually had tears watching it…and by the end of the scene I found myself bawling…
That’s two scenes which really got me stirred up today….The kiss scene…and the YG’s crying scene….Awww, see even he trusts DJ just like his daughter…

Oh, I totally agreed! No offense intended, but all its flaws really become apparent when stacked up against Can You Hear My Heart. I mean, here, they spent almost 20 episodes building up to that kiss, which made it feel special, rewarding, and perfect. In LTM, they were making out so often (and for the flimsiest reasons) it felt overdone and forced. It was like they were depending more on the chemistry between the actors, rather than making it believable or fitting to the plot.
Not that there’s anything wrong with two hot people making out, lol. I just prefer when a kiss has some substance behind it.

@almondfudge: I do agree with you; however, with that said, I think comparing LTM’s and CYHMH’s couples/kiss scenes is like comparing apples and oranges. In LTM, the couple is in their 30’s (not 20s like in CYHMH), so the hot steam gets to run stronger and faster. =D
Just think about the W and D characters 10 years later… and imagine how their kiss scenes would be like… 🙂 [aka, you would see the full-blown lusted kiss scenes in ep 2, not 20.] hee hee

I think what WR meant about that thing of being the worse WR in the world was about she lying to him, and not being able to tell the truth about MR being Choi’s son… so she feels bad about this…
Glad too DJ made clear he has someone he likes. I don’t think MS will be made as the second girl who goes crazy and do bad things because the guy doesn’t like her. She likes him, but not love or really like. I don’t think she likes him that deeply, she herself knows it, she thinks he is handsome, cool, but I never felt more from this to her… so I don’t see her being evil to WR or DJ fin the future. Maybe she can even say ”You take DJ then, I get JH ok?”

I have to give you thanks because if it was not for you I would not even have thought of watching this wonderful drama. I remember back when you were debating whether you would be recapping a 30 episode show which landed on the weekend…. and look at this what a GEM you have found!!!
This drama has me teary eye or balling every weekend. The chemistry between the actors, the cinematography, and the plot has taken up a warm place in my heart.
The two kiss scenes on the step both were soft, warm and makes me say awww. The hugs last week after WR burnt her arm…. awwww, the bromance between the brothers who neomu neomu neomu love each other… awwww. I wait so patiently for the weekends to come, but unfortunately it goes by soooooo quickly… booooo. We still have 10 more episodes (5 week) yehhhh. When it’s all said and done, I will have to rewatch it again.

my eyes got misty when JH picked up the red shoe and handed back to his younger self – and smiled. its significant because he is begining to accpet this part of his past and himself, and remember it with ease and not of regret or shame. i think this is a point in the drama where he will start to look back and see the happiness that he had with his true family. to see the family as what it was/ is in the eyes of a man, and not of a teenager who was ashamed to be in such a family.
I love the two main leads DJ and WR’s love story – without any pretenses they drew to each other like magnets, they understand each other with out speaking, did anyone notice – they never even went on a date with each other, and yet they know what each is thinking and feeling. oh sweet love – its like they are soulmates.
I’m crying now… DJ was crying when he had the ice pack on his eyes when he and JH were talking… he turned away and closed his eyes so that JH can’t see him cry. 😦 and now i’m balling my eyes out at the end when Y is begging DJ, OMG!!!!! I need a tissue why is there no tissue!!!!!
by the way i think T called the cops on JH… to further the revenge plan. after JH is arrested she will reveal to Choi that JH is his son. he needs a son, so he will bail him out, but by doing so he will discredit his business relations because ppl would assume Choi called the cops on JH insead of T. Choi will seem wishy-washy- first he helped JH get the investment money, then claimed JH used the money illegally, and then bailing him out of jail. This will make Choi seem guilty as well. investors will lose trust in Choi – maybe kick Choi out of WK, or investors will sell their stock – either case T wins because she will buy more of the shares and thus gain back her father’s company. BUT who knows this is just my speculations- the writers have been keeping us on our toes so we will see.

Gotta come back here for my dose of update and Softy’s intro, this week with extra last paragraph too. Love love.
This is what I’d call a well executed kiss scene, normally I’m not a fan of a prolonged kiss but this one is so right for the moment. I couldn’t keep track of who know/ don’t know what anymore, so I just follow as the episode unfolded.
DJ went to WR’s house, he desperately needed to assure that he’s still have WR with him, cuz now she had her oppa back (handsome JH with ability to hear, his brother who he would not cross, and her first love too). When WR showed up and he learned that she was with MR, his sadness and insecurity started to surface to WR’s eyes. She kissed him just before he sink further into his own guilt, and said she too hind the truth from him. Her words and kiss here, cleared out all of his confusion and frustration over her first love, out of relief and love, he kissed her. It’s a full blown of satisfying and gaining back his confidence of their relationship and also, deep in his heart, the lingering secret of his inability to hear (which I hope later he will be the one reveal to her himself). It’s an effective choice to go for a long lingering kiss(es) from DJ, kudos to the PD. Also, props to KJW for his forever tender kiss(es) and acting skill.

I don’t think the kiss was to reassure DJ but its as per their deal that they kiss whenever they lie….I am sure by now they both are more than secured about their relationship and hence they don’t seem to explain anything to each other…
And Dj too kissed back because he too lied to her about MR/JH…
Haha…I really love this deal of theirs and never seen it in any other drama or movie….I am waiting for the day the rest of the lies are going to be revealed…;)

I know a lot of people here have focused on the kiss, and it was tender and beautiful, but for me the best parts of this episode were the scenes that belonged to M. His bittersweet goodbye to W, with the kids coming back to show that despite his behaviour he has a true heart, his joking around with D later that night even though they both knew it was goodbye, and oh, OH, the final scene with Y. This drama has made me shed many tears, but I think this was the most mature and strongest episode yet. My heart breaks for these characters (and, in many scenes, it soars as well) Thanks for the analysis and the synopses, Softy. It makes the agonised waiting for the English subs all the more bearable.

i don’t quite understand the beginning of this episode.. how come WR acknowledge JH as Ma Roo? I thought she pretended not to know? Did i miss out some scenes?

Yes you may have missed some earlier scenes from previous episodes – the reason why M told D that he is meeting up with W to say some things for the last time it’s cuz both W and M know that he has to live as J from here on (cuz I kept refusing to come home as M). She already turned him down as a potential bf and this ep had the flashbacks with their younger selves to have some closure.

yes im kinda lost as well, i watched the earlier episodes but although yes there were some hints that she’s not gonna search for maroo and yes she wants jh to be her oppa instead, she had always pretended to not know that he was maroo…so how did they come to the point where they are talking bout the past years when WR was chasing M?
