nurse says the grandma fainted on the street
W asks the doc if her grandma is ok
D tells W to calm down
Doc asks D if the grandma collapsed before
but D cant read his lips cuz of the mask the doc is wearing over his mouth partially
D makes W answer and she says her grandma didnt -this is her first time
doc asks about grandma’s special heath problems
W tells him her grandma’s has senility/alzheimers but forgets one
D tells her to think of it slowly
D tells the doc there should be a chart on the grandma cuz she came to the hospital before
W remembers the other condtion the grandma has
nurse reports grandma’s vitals and the doc says that after
the tests grandma might need surgery
W repeats “surgery” and asks if that means it’s dangerous (for grandma)
doc says that when the form comes for the surgery to sign it first
W was bent over the grandma
so the doc told that to D but
D cant read the doc’s lips
so D tries to get the doc to repeat it
just then the nurse behind D told D to sign in the grandma cuz they have to sign her in first before she can be tested and checked out but he missed that too
so D stops her and asks what she just said and asks for her to repeat that
SC shows up and D looks at SC when the nurse repeats what she said
D cant hear what the nurse is saying cuz she keeps saying it where D cant read her lips
SC yells at the nurse to hurry and test the grandma -are they waiting for her to die first and then test?
nurse tells SC to be quiet cuz she already told D many times to sign in the grandma to be tested
SC asks what D has been doing and not getting her signed in
W sees them like that and goes and tells SC that she wasnt in her right mind and will go now and do it
but SC tells W to stay by grandma’s side and he will go sign her up and meet with the doctor
he asks for grandma’s hospital card
she says she doesnt have it cuz she just ran out of the house -what should she do
SC says not to worry cuz he will look into it
SC tells W to hold her grandma’s hands
he tells grandma to hang in there for a bit and runs off to do everyting
D just watches all that and looks helpless
nurse tells W not to worry cuz they will test the grandma
D cant hear cuz their backs are to him
M sits in his car and remembers the first thing choi ever said to him
all the means things- like when choi told T not to be nice to M cuz kids like him might stick to her and when choi yelled at him when M came to meet T and that kids like M always try to stick to her

and M cries

she tells him what T said

It does seem DJ and WR are firmly a couple. I love the way they make video calls to one another. =) At least DJ can read WR’s lips during thenvideo calls.
And it also seems that DJ is taking in stride that JH is also interested in WR. DJ has confidence and trust on WR.

Choi is selling his stocks, that could only mean he plans to do sth bad to WK so he sells them to get money out first (he thinks he is ahead to do this), but when his plan to lower stock price accomplished, T will buy back all Choi’s with cheaper price, thus T and D will gain more shares (more votes) while Choi is losing his. That’s all I can guess.

my streaming was lagging and choppy but M’s face today was just plain scary! poor M finding out how ugly his biological parents are….yet they made such a nice calm smart young man. Can Choi be such a mood-killer…ugrh he just irks me so! Nam is such an interesting character. I’m really looking forward to learning more about her background, and her connection to Woo Ri and Mi Sook. At this point, it’s so hard to guess, despite all the clues they’ve been dropping . . . which makes me anticipate the big reveal all the more!! ^_^
I’m pretty sure she didn’t notice the family portrait on the wall, which is a shame. I think that’s going to be the catalyst that sparks her big revelation. . .
As for the love-line . . . I have no idea. Part of me kinda shudders at the idea, since YG is so much like a little kid, it feels wrong somehow. Even when he married Mi Sook, it was obvious he didn’t understand all the implications of what a marriage entails. Then again, if it makes him happy, and he finds a compatible partner . . . why not? He is, technically, an adult and a father, so he has every reason to be happy. And Nam is so random and crazy, in the very least, they’d make an interesting couple, haha.
Plus, if Nam *does* end up being Woo Ri’s biological mother, then that would add an interesting twist to the family dynamic. It would be like saying YG was always destined to be her father – and I can’t think of a better end-message than that. 🙂

It’s already been established that Choi is (biologically) Maroo’s father. The grandmother admitted that he tried to make Shin Ae have an abortion, so that’s why Maroo is targeting him specifically in his revenge-driven-fury. I think Woo Ri, Dong Joo, Young Gyu, and his grandmother will be the ones to pull him out of the darkness. Together, they’ll save him from himself (whether he wants them to or not). 🙂
I don’t think Nam really knows anything about S, other than the obvious (that she’s a kept woman). She pretty much knows what everyone else does . . . she’s just not afraid to come right out and say it to her face, lol.

Alast, Dr. JH has finally accelerated grandma’s senility. *sigh* Also, I started to think the writer has forgotten my DJ, and taken JH as a main lead! No? Didn’t you guy notice the song they used when JH was on? Really spooky.
I have to say the first 15mins or so, had me questioned whether what grandma did in the past was right? What do you guy think? JH/MR was so rudely destroying grandma’s heart tonight, although he was right in a way, that who gave her(grandma) the right to do that to him. He yelled and yelled, but when he said that ‘that…pabo…was not his dad’ I cringed, damnit how many times he has to tell us that YG is not worth being his dad. But can someone tell me? I think grandma insist that Choi is not MR’s dad, is it the truth or she just lied? To me, it seemed JH had yet again taken the wrong path, but this time he will bring down DJ and DJ’s mom with him too (i.e let’s all die together). Did he know that DJ’s mom knew he’s Choi’s son? And what he’s going to say with WR?
I love love how the writer introduced DJ’s insecurity in the hospital scene in this episode, it’s realistic yet DJ’s good nature guided to soften all that, still it’s the first time, I saw DJ fall down to the ground feeling despair of his own hearing deficiency.
I suspect the writer are taking this problem very slowly in each episode and tugging at our little be little, There will be one day DJ has to really face the reality and accept it in the open once and for all.
Though, I think DJ’s love for his brother will conquer all, not sure what JH mean by saying DJ will be his guardian angel. The Two-timer club self defense mode is activated, so could you share what is your hero JH are thinking or trying to do? ^^

I mean JH accused grandma of putting a pabo as his dad, and grandma said she didn’t think doing that would effect him badly. But yeah, she couldn’t put him in the house registry as her grandson either cuz Shin Ae didn’t accept that MR is her son.
But I think although he vented his anger on grandma, what he felt in his heart was that he’d abandoned these good ppl (YG,WR) who in no way related to him ( he ,in a way, acknowledged their love, if only he had known the truth). JH just screamed it out on the wrong person.

Gah, Maroo scared me too! I thought he was gonna pop a blood-vessel with all his angry glowering!
He is an interesting character, but I admit, my interest lies mostly with Dong Joo. My sympathy for Maroo only goes so far . . . so an entire episode focusing on him, had me a bit bored and restless. It is interesting though, the lengths he’s willing to go to ruin Choi. I mean, risking imprisonment/damnation is pretty extreme when there are other ways to go about it (aka, Dongjoo’s method). Hopefully he’ll come to grips with his past before he ends up doing something monumentally stupid that he can never take back. Also, funny how he told Dong Joo to be his guardian angel from now on . . . what did he *think* Dong Joo’s been doing all this time?! Protecting him as a side-job? He’s ALWAYS had his back.
Regarding the Grandmother’s actions: I’m well aware that my Western upbringing is probably coloring my perception on this point (perhaps in Korea, the Grandmother’s actions *would* be considered completely out of line) but personally, I don’t see what the big deal is.
For the grandmother, it was a no-win situtation. Either she tells him the truth, and he grows up thinking he was unwanted and unloved – she sends him to an orphanage, and he grows up feeling abandoned and resentful – or she lies, and gives him the chance to grow up with a family who loves and accepts him no matter what. To blame her for the choice she made is ridiculous: Shin Ae gave up her parental rights the day she abandoned him. After that, the grandmother had EVERY RIGHT to decide what was best for the child . . . it’s not like Maroo could’ve made that decision for himself when he was a baby.
Case in point: The Grandmother had his best interest at heart – which is more than you can say for Shin Ae or Choi. (Ooh, reference to the title, lol.)
On the plus side, I finally found an upside to Alzheimers! At least now Grandma has the possibility of forgetting Maroo completely, including how horrible he was to her in the alleyway. So, away washes the guilt . . . which, also happily, means his “revenge” against her won’t really take, since she won’t remember any of it, lol.
I don’t think he really intends to bring down Dong Joo and his “mother” – at least, not at this juncture. Right now, he truly believes they’re his only real family, and seems determined to protect them at any cost. HOWEVER, I have no doubt this will change when he realizes his mother knew about his parentage all along, and was only using him. . . *that’s* when he’s truly going to snap, and we’re going to be wanting to hide from the force of his fury.
Hopefully when that happens, the people who truly care about him (Dong Joo, Woori, Young Gyu, and his Grandmother) can help bring him around and pull him out of the darkness.
I felt so bad for Dong Joo during the hospital scene too. On the bright-side though, the only reason he had so much trouble is because he had to hide his deafness from the doctor and nurses. In the future, once their revenge is complete, and he stops hiding his handicap, it won’t even be an issue. He just has to say he’s deaf, and the nurses/doctors will accommodate his needs. So yay! Silver lining!

i am begining to realise is more about the stry of MR/J… which isn’t an unpleasant thing because it gives this Kdrama a twist that is unlike others – u know the usually ones where there are to star crossed lovers who loves each other, and then they have to grow apart..and then something else happens, and BAM they are together at the end. this story has more dimensions to it – i can’t explain it but the writers ane GOOOOD.

Honestly, I think this story has three main characters – Dong Joo, Woo Ri, and Ma Roo. It’s about how their lives intersect, and how they bring the best out in each other. At the moment, Ma Roo is just struggling with his own demons, so it feels like he’s the focus; but really, he’s just one third of the entire picture.
Of course, that in itself is unique, so props to the writer, for constantly keeping us on our toes! ^_^

I have to watch it to see if JH/MR said it in a bad way or sad way for not being ”that fool’s son” Because if he is again looking down on Y I’ll be pissed. Who cares if Y isn’t smart? He has a big and pure heart that loves his son MR more than anything T_ why can’t JH accept this? Why look down on it? That is why I don’t like him, I pity, understand him but don’t like him…
Poor DJ. The hospital scene… I have to see it. Glad the writter told more about DJ’s deafness and his limitations. I thought the writter was too focused on M… but at least one scene of DJ and his hardships…
I hope next episode won’t be more about M, like someone said here did M turned the main lead? Lol…

I’m looking forward to more info regarding Nam as well. There’s obviously something critical in her past that we’re missing – though like you speculate, I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned out to be Woori’s real mother or something.
I don’t think she saw the picture, since she was too focused on the conversation between Woori and the Grandmother. I’m sure when she does sees it, we’ll *know*, since it’ll be a pivotal moment for her character . . . and will most likely set the ground-work for the unveiling of her backstory.

Wow between this and Best Love my eyes are so red from crying. Poor M he just seems to be bouncing around in confusion. What is going to happen to him? It is so sad that he doesn’t recognize the love all around him. Yeah his real parents(if they are his real parents) threw him away or set him aside but his Grandmother did what seemed to her to be the best thing. How can he not see the love there? I hope he can forgive her. I think that Nam is going to really blow things up when she gets around to telling everyone what the hell is REALLY going on LOL

I think it’s more on “not telling the truth” part from grandma. I know some families decide not to tell the adopted kids about the adoption – thinking that will be easier for the kids, but you never know if the decision turns out to be good or bad for the kids in the future. There isn’t one best formula for everyone in this situation.

haha. Don’t worry – there are still 10 episodes left (not counting the one that’s about to air). They can’t possibly spent all that time showing Maroo being angry and grumpy. Plus, the writer’s done a great job so far on not lingering too long on one particular plot-point. There’s still a lot left to cover, so I’m sure we’ll have more adorable Dong Joo/Woo Ri moments to obsess/squeal over. 😉
Or maybe Maroo will get his wish, and end up in jail – so DJ/WR will have to band together to find a way out for him. And that wouldn’t be so bad, right? There’s only so many scenes they could show of him standing behind bars, lol.

He is angry at them, not “people who aren’t related to me…” Remember he really thought that Y was his DNA father up until a few seconds ago. We all knew he wasn’t so that bit of info for us was not earth shattering. At the moment he spoke, he is still reeling from that idea.
So the question is “HOW THE HELL DID I END UP LIVING MY CHILDHOOD WITH PEOPLE THAT AREN’T EVEN RELATED TO ME WHEN I HAVE LIVING PARENTS IN THE WORLD? You left me with an idiot- and made me believe I was his sone? How can this even begin to make sense? What am I garbage that you just toss aside? How could they treat me like this? Did I deserve this somehow? Am I really trash?”
How can we not feel sorry for this baby boy who has fought all his life to “feel” a part of a fake family, when ironically the “real” family he ran away from was also fake?
I don’t even try to understand the business stuff;no reason to expend the energy.
Choi investment pull. (Bad things? Yes.) DJ Oma buying shares. (Good things? Yes.) JH/MR will go into a hole. (Bad again? If I learned anything from Giant that is BAD) DJ punches JH/MR? (????????!!)

Still no matter what you don’t leave your sick grandma alone in the streets late at night fainted on the ground! And he is a doctor! How he can do this? Scary, I wonder how he ever turned in a doctor with his heart full of revenge and anger.
And what do you mean real or fake family. Family doesn’t mean bloodline. Mean love and caring. And he had it…. he had a warm and real family, but he left them to go to T… of course I know he was looking for a mother’s figure. And T gave him it when he visited her and she treated him sweetly, and even gave him food.
Gah, no matter what happened. Calling Y dumb I don’t like it. The dumb one here is him, since kid he was ashamed of Y. He was always angry at Y. And never really treating the poor stepfather well. He was and is still ungrateful.
JH keep begging for love but the truth is he can’t receive it. Not when his heart is full of anger and revenge. No matter what he won’t fell/receive it with his heart right now…
He will just stop when he realize who really cherish and love him, and how revenge and blood means nothing.

I am not saying he was right in all of his ranting, but I understand why he said those things.
The words coming out of his mouth at that time weren’t deeply considered, and don’t necessarily reflect what is in his heart. Lord knows I have screamed really mean things at people that I love with all my heart, and regretted it.
It wasn’t nice, but it was in character for him. Thankfully, we have seen MR as an adult realize that Y is NOT an idiot. He has watched Y’s kindnesses and has softened towards him considerably.
And the “fake” part was a great trick that fate pulled on him. He thought he was running away from a “shameful” (his point of view) past and embarrassed at his DNA family. He ended up running right at the most shameful (still his point of view) people he had ever met (S and Choi) and they are his DNA family.
This should help him reevaluate what fake and real are to him, and what shameful really means.

Ohhh I understand now. Ohh loved what you said. Sorry for before lol. That’s a really poignant observation . . .
We know he has the capacity, and yet, he is constantly rejecting those who reach out to him. Even with Woori, he refuses to accept her feelings for him, unless it’s on his terms (as a lover, not a brother). It’ll be nice when he finally comes around, and stops running from what he already has.

As I was watching the episode last night, the thought that came to my head was that how beautiful the story really reflects its title “Can You Hear My Heart?” When JH screamed and screamed, when DJ tried to reach out for WR but fail cuz of his hearing, when grandma kneeling down begging for forgiveness (in a way, to me, she should have informed MR with the truth, and that I believe is part of the guilt in her heart), when DJ’s mom expressed her feelings for revenge. All these leaded me to think whether or not I’ve really thoroughly listened to the hearts of ppl around me, or I’ve been blinded by my own beliefs just like JH. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself when you learned you did sth gravely wrong and move on, JH seems to be struggling hard at one point and not letting go, I hope with DJ and WR love will little by little guide him to the right path.
As much as love the writer, the past episodes on JH/MR starting to wear me off. I’m kind of wary knowing that there will be more scenes on JH/DJ’s mom(fight and reunion as a son she really loves), JH/Choi(dad/son revelation, and may be reunion at the end), JH/Shin Ae(mom/son), JH/YG(revelation and reunion), JH/grandma(apology and reunion) etc. Darn that’s a lot to endure, hope everything will get resolved soooooon, more on DJ and WR asap please!!! (Thank goodness, at least she called him every hour, as if the writer knew we would be missing the couple^^).
And why in the preview my dear DJ is crying? Every time he(a good spirited, kind hearted soul) shreds tears, it means more, doesn’t it?

there is one more month of angst = 10 more episodes…. i think the JH/M story will have antoher 3 weeks because the drama is based on the vengence of JH and T against Choi… and in between the story line we have the DJ/W’s love, and DJ’s deafness. but I KNOW AT THE END – i will be satisfied with the drama – its a Kdrama for God sake, and its about acceptance. JH will accept that his real parents abandoned him but in the end he gained one that is worth his love and loyalty, DJ will accept his deafness and the limitations that it has, W will have her oppa back and her pilllar of support DJ, T will gain 2 sons and her father’s business (she may even be will to go to jail for JH if they are going to do something shaddy on the business side to gain the comparny back), grandma and Y will have their family reuinion with M, and we will all know who the heck Nam really is. i don’t see a happy ending for both SA and Choi though.. maybe SA will for once do her motherly duty and regret giving up JH not because he is her meal ticket but because she truly regrets giving up her child.

I think the actor portraying Maru is doing a fine job of portraying him as a cold person desperate of love.
As for Maru’s parentage, the revelation that Choi may not be his father is such a shock. For me, I still think it is Choi. Maybe Grandma is just protecting Maru? hmmm…we’ll see. But with this revelation I think comes a little tiny ray of hope that Maru does not need to be so angry and vengeful.
As for Jomo’s comment about a scenario where grandma’s death would snap Maru back to reality, I really think it’s possible. This is the writer of Smile, You, yes? When this drama is said and done, I’m hoping that everyone gets their happy ending.

It’s been established that Choi is his father, and Maroo knows this.
When Grandmother said “he’s not your dad” she meant it in the literal way; he never acted like a father, hence, he’s not your father (it’s reflecting the same conversation she had with Choi in Episode 17). She confirms this by informing him Choi tried to get Shin Ae to have an abortion . . . which is why Maroo is so focused on Choi and his destruction in this episode. He blames Choi (in addition to his mother and grandmother) for ruining his life. Choi, in particular, because he chose wealth, power, and wookyoung, over him and his mother. . .
