Can You Hear My Heart E8

Can someone tell me why M told W the truth. Was he moved by her speech? Is it cuz of what happened with Y earlier when M realized just how much he was loved as a child? Did he feel bad for being so mean to Y when M was a kid? Was it out of guilt? Could it be that he finally sees that speaking up is the only way he can end their pain – making them wait all these years was kind of cruel on his part. 

How adorable was that piano scene? OMG that was the cutest thing ever. D knows exactly how to push W’s buttons and it sure is amusing watching him have fun playing around with his old childhood friend.
When Y was patting the dirt in around the flower and explaining everything to D, I think that is when D realized how special Y was as a father and as a person.

I keep forgetting to mention this but I love how the guy who plays D is really tall – everytime he has a scene when he is by himself – it is like picture perfect. Yesterday when he said he doesnt like women who talk too much, I was thinking “uh-oh” cuz W is quite the talker. At least she knows how to sign so maybe that will make up for that. Wonder when she will figure that he can’t hear – have a feeling she will be the first to notice.

Starts from M crying watching Y explain. W threatens to leave Y behind if he keeps doing that and he thinks she said she would leave home so he begs her not to and says he was wrong. she tries to explain she only said that cuz her dad kept doing that. she tells him not to cry .

D and M exchange looks.

M walks off back to D’s home. M gets a call, but doesnt answer it.  D comes in and calls out for M but M takes off. D keeps calling him, but M drives off.even in the car, M wont answer his call. the call is from T. she leaves a message that they had a date cuz she has a present to give him. she tells him to hurry and come. and drive safely

M takes a call thinking it is T but it is choi – he wants M to come to his office to talk about D

—

D gets a call but he doesnt know-then his watch tells him a call came.

he goes outside and sees Y and W together.

W says to her dad -who said I was going to leave home. Y spills the secret and says it was the neighbor. W says she knew it was the ahjussi

Y says he wont cry cuz if he does, it will be more difficult for them and they will have to move out so he wont cry. he mentions their troubles like S the fraud, grandma’s hospital bill. Y says he is trying not to cry but the tears keep coming out. 

W tries to cheer him up so she throws her shoe up in the air and tries to catch it. then she sings to him. they sign the song as they sing.

D watches them. they sign to each other that they like it the most when the other smiles. D smiles watching them-he says she looks foolish.

* it wasnt an insult – it was more like she looks silly

pretty sure he didnt call her dad that too- just her

grandma is at the police station.

S goes there to find her cuz her mom lost her way like a kid. (S’s words not mine) 

grandma lies and says she forgot where she lived cuz she was drunk

S tells her to be quiet cuz it is embarrassing

S is rough with her mom and makes her fall as S pulls her mom’s arm to take her out of the station. the officer helps the grandma up and asks S if she really is the daughter. she yells back at the officer and asks why he let her sit like that like a criminal and he yells back that the grandma’s legs hurt so she couldnt sit on the chair.

S says do you know who i am for you to yell at me -she starts to bring up choi’s name but the grandma stops her from saying his name

grandma asks the officer to send S away and call her son Y

S gets mad cuz she was called here and the grandma says who told you to come- go away

the officer hands S the piece of paper in her pocket – it was S’s phone numbers and stuff

S holds it up to her mom asking why her mom carries it around when the mom wanted to cut off their ties

grandma takes it saying she didnt write it and wonders when W put that in her pockets

S drags her home but the grandma tells her not to yell at W again

grandma asks S to put her on the bus so she can go home alone cus she is sober now. 

S asks if W threatened the grandma

grandma says W said she would leave home cuz S hit her last time

so is S willing to take care of her mom and live with her

grandma asks to be put on the bus to go home alone

S is worried cuz she doesnt want to take care of her mom on her own

SC is trying to get his dad to buy a car. the dad says they have no where to go so why do they need one. SC says so “we” can go for a drive. so the dad asks which “we” Sc is referring to “us  – we” (pointing to SC and him) or “woori” (pointing upstairs)

the korean word for “we” is the same pronunciation as “woori” 

W goes home and shows the neighbor where SC forged his dad’s signature. SC sold his dad a car so his dad hits SC. W hits SC cuz she told him to sell cars – not sell it to his dad

S brings her mom home and is really sweet to the neighbor.

grandma lies to W saying she went out for some fresh air when W says she told the grandma to stay home.

—

S tells W that if it wasnt for S-the grandma would have died on the streets. she tells W not to do anything she will regret and not take care of the grandma now that she is senile.  S makes W feel guilty saying that the grandma’s legs hurt cuz the grandma worked to take care of W

S says she never got a penny of the money her mom earned at the market -it all went to Y and W

so if W acts like she doesnt know the grandma she will be punished (by god)

S says the grandma started forgetting stuff after what happened to W’s mom

S comments that the grandma losing her only grandson made the grandma worse.

this is when W makes her move and asks for a favor

W asks S to lend her a little of money for grandma’s hospital bill. S accuses W of wanting to take that money and leave home. W says: where would I go without my dad and grandma. I cant live without them- dont even say such things

S says grandma doesnt have many years left.

her memory isnt just coming and going. when you get to her age, they all do that.

S tells W not to let the grandma step foot outside on her own.

 grandma overhears and cries. 

* S kept saying “your grandmother” and not “my mom” cuz she is trying to make W feel guilty enough to always take care of the grandma so S never has to. she gives the term “heartless daughters” a whole new level of evil.

T is waiting at home on the steps.  D comes home and she says she is late for her lunch appt cuz she waited on him. she gives him a file saying a CD is inside and tells him to look it over and not to forget to have M weigh in and after it has been settled to give it to MS to choose.

He gives it back to her and says the contract time has ended.

he makes a comment that her makeup is too heavy -since the weather is nice – to put it on lighter and go out.

he goes to the kitchen and she keeps talking but he only “heard” part of it

she says :there is nothing bad about being cautious

why are you trying to do it all alone

until now you got help from junha

MS is the something leader so what is wrong with her choosing

you behaving like this – it looks like (the word for when you dont want to face your disability- maybe the word is denial)

D says there is nothing wrong with him -she said so herself that he was all well

but he might get caught cuz of her.

D asks her to leave M out of his work from now on (and not help him anymore)

he tells her to stop making M babysit him cuz he can do it on his own now

T: I cant do that

I can only rest easy when junha is next to you

do as I told you

D:cant you start believing in/trusting me now?

I can do as much as brother

T: dont compare youself to junha

even if you trick everyone else – you know-you cant hear

she says that he wanted to live like this too

you said you will get back grandpa’s company

you said you will return everything to its rightful place

while we are fighting like this – what do you think choi is doing

if we act like this do you think we can get back WK

she yells that d needs to drop by the office and get choi’s signature to change something in D’s name

she goes to her room and feels guilty

M meets with choi. choi keeps staring at M. M says it is an honor to come to the president’s office. M looks at the name plate on the desk and asks choi- doesnt it feel intimidating sitting in that position/chair? cuz just looking at it makes me feel like I am suffocating

choi: you seem like my son

M: what?

choi: the way D spoke when he was little

i liked it back then

M: you said you had something to ask about D

choi: before that

i heard you grew up like brothers with D

but why didnt i see you even once during that time

M: you were busy with work all the time

even when you came to see D – you only got to see his face for a second

would you have had time to see me too

I was curious about you too cuz D never talked about you

i heard about president Tae (D’s grandpa)

choi: he talked about his grandfather? D did?

M: how could D talk about him when he forgot all his memories

I heard from mom

that the grandpa passed away from shock at D’s accident

choi mutters that T didnt consider D’s feelings saying that

choi asks M: does D know that

that his grandpa passed away cuz of him?

M: no – mom and I said it would be our secret

choi: you seem really close with my wife

M: yes – we said we would be mother and son

choi: what about your parents

M says his parents were busy with their work so they threw him away to D and mom

D shows up

choi asks what brought him here

D tells choi he needs choi’s signature-should he come back later

M tells him to sit cuz they were talking about D

D asks what they said about him

M says jokingly they were making fun of him

they playfully hit each other’s knees

M is walking down the hall

D comes up behind him saying he didnt know he would be meeing M here after M left like that

M asks what he did as he left

D says M made a sad face and left (referring to earlier with Yand W)

D whispers into M’s ears:why did you do that and go

some old guy calls D and he didnt know so M has to tell D to turn around. the old guy asks if D came to meet his dad. M leaves them

the guy wants to have a meal with D cuz D used to follow him around when D was younger

D says yes and looks at the direction M went

choi meets with the old guy

choi says it is a good thing that D doesnt remember

if D had remembered it all -the old guy wouldnt be in his position now

the guy who wants to give back the company to D now

choi gets mad at him saying is this why you did this – doing this behind my back

you think i gave you your postion so you could do this

(no clue what the old guy did but it sure did make choi mad)

choi says that T became a different person while she lived apart from choi with D

so the old man cant take her lightly

choi says he put his blood into this company and doesnt want to give it up or get it taken from him

choi tells the man not to give his permission for something

that old man’s daughter is MS and he talks to her about M

she says M is famous in her school

he graduated with top honors etc

her dad asks if M has interest in something – maybe their work

MS says it doesnt matter cuz  M is a doctor and the medical world will never let M go

she doesnt want to answer her dad’s question so she pretends to be reviving a patient

* turns out she is lying to her dad for T and she didnt want to answer that last question cuz he might look further into M’s past and find out some truth he isnt supposed to know

MS meets with T

T asks M: doesnt it bother you lying to your father?

MS says it does bother her but what can she do – she has a dream

T smiles

T says she wants a daughter like T

so MS says you can have me as a daughter-in-law

MS says J – D – J -D

and says it came out to D

T:why? do you like J more?

she says she liked J in the states but now that she came here she likes D

T asks if she knows about a lot about J 

 MS says yes cuz they are best friends

and lists he is good looking, smart, killer voice, etc

T smiles

MS asks if she is mistaken about him

T changes the subject and says the product she had put on her hand is sticky

M comes home and remarks that MS is here too

MS says she came cuz the first test products came out

T goes over to him and says he is a mess cuz she didnt take care of him for a day

T: let’s get you changed first

was it uncomfortable sleeping there

did D annoy you?

she leads M up the stairs and MS sits there looking confused

after his shower, T chooses his dress shirt

M remembers how his dad said he knew what M’s eyes look like when they are closed

(think M is comparing parents for a second)

T: are you done washing up?

M: yes

T:first change into comfortable clothes, then send MS off,

and when you go out with mom – wear that

M: are we going somewhere?

T: i told you I was going to give you a present

in your name I invested in a company for you

so you have to go in person and sign it cuz you are the president

M: why would I be in charge of a company….

T says it hurts her heart but even tho they get back WK, D cant manage on his own

so she is going to put D out in front but J has to actually be in charge

M doesnt seem comfortable with this plan

T asks why M didnt answer her calls earlier cuz she left a message too

she takes the towel and dries his hair (OMG-the man is 30-what crazy mom does that)

M: i forgot to tell you after I got back

i went to the office cuz the president said he had something to ask about D

T freaks out when she hears that

so you didnt answer my calls and went there

M: i thought you would just worry for no reason so….

T: i told you to tell me everything – that I hated things being kept hidden the most

you know very well what choi -that person did without my knowledge

and what happened to me and D

that person is going to get you hurt too

if he hurts you too then what do I do?

M hugs her and tells her to calm down

I didnt hide it from you on purpose

T: J – mom is really scared of that person

I’m really scared of that person J

M hugs her

mom that wont happen

 from now on I will tell you everything ahead of time

I was wrong-calm down

she keeps calling out his name

Y and W are trying to get the grandma to get up and eat. Y says she needs to eat to grow this tall -they eat well so they grew this much but she doesnt eat so she is this small. grandma keeps saying she wont eat and wants to sleep.

W asks if she is sick. grandma gets up and pretends she is fine and doesnt need to go to the hospital. she says she will prepare her own food and they should prepare their own food and eat. Y urges her to eat and says he has to hurry and go cuz the flowers moved and they wont be able to sleep well so he needs to go be with them

and W has to go to the chicken shop.

neighbor says W needs to hurry and go to make deliveries. W says she cant go today

(cuz of the grandma). neighbor says she needs to cuz he has to watch a soccer game.

grandma asks the neighbor to let her watch soccer with him. he asks if she even knows how many players there are. she says she only needs that one that plays well. she tells W and Y to eat and she goes downstairs. W is worried why the grandma is acting like that

* the grandma overheard what S said to W and doesnt want to be a burden on W and Y so she is pretending to be well and self reliant

at night Y goes to work to tend to the flowers

Y sees D putting up the map and thinks he was taking it down.

Y tells him not to take it down – if he does then M cant come home

 Y flashed his light in D’s eyes so D couldnt see or read Y’s lips for a second.

Y calls him ” one who isnt M”

D explains how the map fell off so he was putting it back up

Y sees the tape in D’s hands and sees that what D said was true about putting it up and not taking the map down. Y bows and thanks D

D walks away and Y calls after him “one who isnt M” (so cute)

Y shares info about a flower with D

starting with its name and how it likes the sun so it was moved today from over there to here

Y : after you move it is harder to sleep – me too

he explains how the flower moved from one location to another just like Y did

Y says he moved so he cant sleep well

Y points out that no one can come here at night so how did D come here

D says he just felt like coming so he did

Y says that flower is pretty at night

Y packs the mud around the flower saying the flower sleeps better when you cover it with blankets

so Y does the same thing for his daughter W and puts the blanket around her when she sleeps so she will be warm

Y tells the flower to sleep well cuz Y will stay with it

D smiles listening to Y

W is running to give Y his lunch and hears the piano

she thinks she heard wrong and keeps going but the music starts again

she goes closer to the sound of the piano and it stops again

she peeks in the window and sees the piano

there is no one there sitting by the piano

she thinks it is strange

she walks off and the piano starts again

D is hiding

he is kidding around and playing only when she starts to walk away

Y peeks in the window too

they talk about what she brought for lunch

and he is happy about the eggs cuz he likes it the most

she asks Y who lives here

D watches them thru the window and smiles

W explains she heard the same piano music from when she was little in this house

she hums the song and Y says she didnt sound like that

he makes the sound she really made and it doesnt sound good

W argues she never played it like that

she gets mad and says she is going to eat all the eggs

he tells her it isnt good to lie

they keep arguing as they walk away

D watches them walk off and smiles

W is mad the manager didnt tell her ahead of time when he found out

manager says why should i tell you when i am the one in charge

W hears from the manager about how the nursery or something was turned over to WK

and W says if she knew that she and Y wouldnt work here

Y tells W not to fire the manager cuz if she does then Y cant work here

W asks who lives over at that house

manager tells her the guest house is for an important person

(it was built by the wife of the president of WK as soon as she arrived)

he tells her not to even run into that person

she should just hide and go around

she asks who the guest is but he says it isnt her business

she gets a call

MS and D are at the cafe waiting

D keeps looking down and doesnt look at MS so he didnt get to read her lips

so he makes her repeat what she had said claiming he was settling something in his head so he didnt hear her 

MS complains cuz they dont have much time left (to get the deal signed for the flower design)

she asks D again to find W’s brother for her

she calls D “boss”

D looks down and keeps smiling

W meets with some guy below D

she reads about the company and the guy explains it is a new company but it will become famous soon cuz they have the best products

he wants to use her flower design for a promotional ad and wants her to sign a contract to sell it to him

she asks again if it isnt for WK

he says it is for a company called energy something

she says it is strange cuz his company is also a cosmetic company like WK

and suddenly both of them want to buy this design

(she thinks the timing is funny)

the guy ignores the question and asks her even tho it may be strange

she is still going to sell it to his company right? he calls her “designer (korean word ‘teacher’)”

he bows to her so she bows back

she sits back and says her dad the professor can close his eyes and draw this

so the guy finds out W didnt draw the flower and that her dad did it

she gives her dad’s name in a funny way and confuses the guy

he wants to buy the design for $3,000 and asks if that is ok

he can go higher if it isnt enough

she says the money isnt important

if her dad was here he would have asked for 50 cents – why? cuz he is the kind of innocent person who loves  flowers more than money-that is how he was able to come up with this design

he says he will give her 50 cents then

but she says she will settle for $3,000

she asks if he can deposit it right away

she asks one last thing

when the makeup comes out-she asks him to give her 3

one for her home , one for the neighbors and one for her brother

the guy agrees

she goes out and is happy

she calls Y and says she earned $3,000

D watched from above and read her facial expressions and smiled

the guy goes up and gives D the design contract

MS is shocked cuz W said she would never sell it to WK

the family has a party cuz Y’s flower design was sold for $3,000

Y is sitting aside and drawing some more flowers

they call Y a designer now

SC asks where W is

she went to the hospital

they bring up M so Y gets sad

so they say how happy M will be when he gets back and learns Y became a designer

Y says he will draw more

grandma watches him lovingly

W goes to the hospital to pay for the grandma’s hospital bills

she tells the clerk that they can run all the tests they want now (cuz she has money)

the clerk says W has to talk to the doc about further tests

she asks where he is and sees M giving a presentation to a group of doctors

and is impressed

D is looking at his aquarium and the fish

(he wasnt counting it but he pointed to each fish and made a sound)

W waits for the doctors to finish M’s lecture

M finishes and sees W sleeping outside the door

he keeps going

she finally wakes up

she meets with the doc who took care of her grandma

she gives him a bag of tea that is good for his health

she asks him if M already left

she gives the doc another bagful of the tea and asks him to give it to M

cuz she doesnt know when she will see him again

she tries to catch the bus but missed it

M pulls up and tells her to get in

she says no cuz her home is far away

he says he never said he would take her home- just to catch the bus

so she gets in his car

they keep missing the bus stops

so she wants him  to pull up ahead of the bus

explaining since the car is heavy, if he quickly turns the steering wheel it’s ok

(she is acting like a back seat driver)

she says she is in a hurry cuz her dad and grandma are waiting

he asks why she came to the hospital at this late time

she says to pay for the medical bills

her mom must have listened to her prayer

cuz her dad drew a picture and she sold it to Energy (something)

M asks her to repeat the  name of the company

she explains that it isnt a big company now

he pulls ahead of the bus saying he will take her all the way home

he has to meet his younger brother who lives there

D throws the hackysack in the air and catches it and remembers back to when he met W

when she told him she didnt have a name

how she promised to tell him first when she gets a name

he says her name – bong woo ri -and smiles

W and M are in the car

she finds out he saw her on that show

she says she messed up on it

she wondered how he knew where her home was

she admits that she lied and said they were rich and had land on that show

looking out the window she says to herself that she is cant lift her head anymore cuz of what she said on that show

she explains to M that she isnt a liar normally

she just had to lie that one time cuz she didnt have a choice

M asks: did you think your brother would come if you did that

she explains how SC had told her that she cant look poor so she wore that red dress

she asks how long M wanted to be doctor

cuz her brother wanted to become one too

he replies from a young age cuz his dad was a doctor too

she touches the yellow watch again

she asks him a medical question

everytime i see a person – that person looks like my brother

that is an disease too huh?

what kind of sickness is this?

since it would cost too much to test this and get treated

so since you are a doctor could you just give me a hint (how to treat it)

he tells her to just forget -when something is difficult to think about

forgetting it is the best solution

she agrees he is right-that would be best

and looks sad

W: but i had something i wanted to say to my brother

when i saw him there was something i really had to tell him

they arrive near her home

W asks to be dropped off there

she thanks M

he gets out of the car

he asks what she wanted to say to her brother when she saw him

since she kept it in her heart too long

she should get it out and just say it to him

W: how could I when you are a doctor

M: since i am a doctor i can treat it

so tell me

W starts and cries as she says the words:

ya – do you think you are the only one who didnt want to be my brother

I dont want to be your younger sister too

are you an older brother?

what kind of older brother acts like that?

you told me you would come back so why didnt you?

you told me to keep this ( she holds out the yellow watch)

you said if I wait holding this you would come right back

you said “brother will be back so wait”

then why didnt you come all this time

why? why?

dad and grandma waited everyday for you

watching that – do you know how my heart felt

you dont know how long I waited

you have no idea how hard it was for me all alone

she yells it all out and says she is done

she says she feels better like he said she would

she thanks him for listening in M’s place

she bows and turns to go

but he says

W- I am sorry

he cries and says “I am sorry W”

she stares back at him in shock
