MSOAN E9: Live “Transcap”

I just found out about MSOAN getting a new writer and I have a dumb question-what exactly was wrong with the old one? except for the kiss that made me want to punch something at the end of this episode-I dont get why they had to replace her.

for what low ratings? how is it her fault that her drama went up against -what was the show called? oh yeah- giant. YAB went up against IRIS and no one fired the Hong sisters (if they had -I’m pretty sure whoever was in charge would’ve needed witness protection and should have feared for his/her life cuz it would have gotten ugly on an international scale)

I dont understand the written preview for E10 either. what the freak- Mary doesnt get angry over the kiss? S announces to the press that she is still in love with MG? what the heck was that stupid farewell kiss for then- a prelude to the upcoming nightmare? Mary decides to marry J to help him keep his drama up and running? it has got to be the worst preview of any drama in history. it is practically begging its audience to run and scream the opposite way.

Since the new writer steps up from E11, I’m guessing that the old writer got pissed and said – “well deal with this” and wrote E10 and ran off. I wonder why

she abandoned us like this- none of those things in the preview better come

true or else.

I loved everything so far- including E9 minus the last few mins so I feel a little hurt and rejected by the writer for ditching us like this. I hope the writer has a good reason for doing this and leaving us – and it better be a darn good reason too like she met a real life version of the old perverted guy on SG or something.

This bit of news puts a big ole damper on Mon and Tues now. I am so scared.

Last night as I was translating like crazy, in the back of my mind, I was wondering which scene would be turned into a gif and which screen cap would be on the main page the next morning. Imagine my surprise when I woke up and clicked on the site and saw the two scenes I knew they would have trouble deciding between. I still can’t believe there are two gifs on there. I cracked up laughing when I first saw it. You have to understand that 1crazynyt and betchay choose what screen caps and gifs are posted so I am pleasantly surprised like the rest of you each morning when I log on.

A special thanks to Nikesma for volunteering to make subbed videos for us for both dramas. Have no idea where that devotion came from, but we sure do appreciate it don’t we? I bet pretty soon you are going to be like me and feel grateful that there are only two dramas transcapped here. 🙂  Hope you are all rested up and ready to go people cuz it starts all over again in little over an hour.

they stop

she gets a call from J

Mary: what should I do?

MG: answer it

she hesitates

MG: should I answer it for you?

Mary: no I’ll answer it.

Yes, director. where are you know?

In front of MG’s home?

S: your fiance was Mary?

J: I was going to tell you after the engagement party

S: you’re the same too. why didnt you say anything all this time

J: there was a reason why I couldnt tell you

S: why do the three of you have so many reasons?

*”reason” fits but other words like circumstanc, situation, etc work too

J calls the shots scene

MG and Mary walk towards them holding hands.

S: What are those two doing? Are those handcuffs?

She sees MG and Mary are holding hands and walks off.

Band members run towards them

=So sorry-we’re really late

J: What are you two doing?

MG: Take these off first.

J takes the key from the band member and unlocks them himself

Mar: Director

J: We’re late for the appointed time.

Mary: No, I can’t go.

J ignores her and starts to lead her away which makes MG yell(she) said she can’t go!

Mary: I won’t go to the engagement hall. I can’t get engaged to you.

J has his back turned from Mary and MG who are sitting on the couch

Mary: I’m sorry director. But I want to be honest about my feelings now.

Also, feeling this way, I can’t think of going to the engagement

J: you say that when the engagement is imminent. / You’re saying that right before the engagement

Mary: It’s too sudden but (MG takes her hand) I want to trust this heart

J: If that’s really what you want, we’ll call off the engagement

Instead I’ll ask one thing.

What are you two going to do from here on?

MG:Whatever we do, it’s our business so don’t concern yourself.

J:No, this problem involves the three of us. Since legally Mary is my wife. There is only one solution. {to keep my father from finding out,} we have to use our three way contract. [As much as you were doing this for my father,]my business is important to me.

In one month, [something about the drama, ]

Until that time, I cant break this contract.

Mary: Director.

J: Mary. Out of faith, love, and hope, which one did you say was the most important?[right now it’s to keep the loyalty you have for me]

J walks out and sighs

D worries cuz they don’t pick up their phones and thinks they might have gotten into an accident. JS says let’s just wait a bit more. D asks where mary is and J states that they decided not to get engaged. JS gets furious thinking they are treating this too lightly. He starts to get weak from the exertion of yelling. (his health is failing) D asks if there is something about Mary that J doesn’t like and to tell him so he can correct it before marriage.  J assures him it’s not that, but that mary cried too much and was distraught after visiting her mom’s memorial and that J canceled it. D gets mad at Mary for crying on such a happy day. JS calls J a bad name again and JS almost falls so J steadies him. JS leaves J behind.

D yells at mary

D: Mary are you in your right mind?

she says she is sorry but doesnt want to marry someone she doesnt love

he tells her to be honest and asks if the reason she didnt go to the engagement was cuz of MG

D says he wont allow her to meet with MG

Mary defends MG and says he is not a bad person

D says:  you think a guy like that goes around with the words “i’m not that kind of guy” written on his face?

d says after her mom met D, all she did was suffer alot before she passed away. he goes on to say that he was not able to do something for her mom and how he regrets that  (which makes Mary cry)

D says his life long wish was to get mary married to someone who can take care of her well

so why is she not listening to him

mary gets a call from mg and D yells into the phone 

“i dont know how you got my innocent mary to like you but from now on dont even think about meeting her or calling her!”

he forbids her from taking calls or going out

JS is in bed

he tells J not waste time and drag it out and give up on Mary

J says at first he accepted this marriage cuz of his father

but from now on he wants to go after mary for himself

JS asks what he means by that

J clarifies that he wants Mary as his wife and he really wants to marry her now

S looks at her guitar pick

MG’s mom is excited about going to paris

she is at MG’s trying on outfits and stuff all excited about going

she notices what he is doing and comes over to him

MG is folding paper airplanes

MG’s mom: When you were young, when you missed me, you came secretly and flew these

he goes outside for air

he has a flashback scene of him going to where his mom is living with some guy

cute little  MG keeps throwing airplanes till his mom pops her head out

the mom shoos him away tho so her bf wont know and she blows kisses at MG

MG looks like he could cry remembering that

* poor thing has abandonment issues even with a parent around

balcony scene:

mary thinks of the two kisses first the one with J then the one with MG

omg

MG is doing the same thing he did with his mom at mary’s

he is throwing paper airplanes at her window

Mary sees him and waves and calls his name

he waves back like a child at x-mas all happy

the whole time Mary is whispering or gesturing to communicate with MG who is down on the ground

mary: dad took the cell phone away so I dont have it

MG nods

Mary: dad is sleeping outside

MG makes an ok sign

Mary: arent you cold?

MG gives ok sign again

mary: I missed you

MG: me too

they wave at each other

she tries to sneak out’but the dad is asleep by the door on the floor

she puts a pillow under his head and covers him with a blanket’

she says “I am sorry dad I will be back soon”

and kissed him and he smiles in his sleep

bridge scene:

she goes out to meet MG

they go to a bridge

she yells:  I’m ruined!

he asks “what’s ruined?

she says: (I) ended up liking you

he: I’m-I’m ruined too!

MG: it’s freezing cold but why did you suddenly want to come to hankang bridge?

ever since a long time ago, if I got a boyfriend I wanted to come here

Mary: the moon you can see from here was really beautiful

MG: oh that’s why…in a little while, it will be a spring moon

mary: what will happen if things keep changing between us like that moon

MG: dont worry. this time I will do well.

Mary: you mean it?

dad, ahjussi, director, and S- since we started with so many people getting hurt, it would be nice if we (can) do (it)well

i want to go see the beach

MG: should we go see the beach?

Mary: now?

MG: yeah, now

MG:go go?

Mary:go go!

MG:go!

They are in the car on their way

Mary:In this day and age who doesn’t have a navigation.

MG:When I am going somewhere –I hate having someone nagging go here and there.

Mary: That personality of yours.

Let’s see- the closest beach is –go straight.

MG:I know- I don’t have to see the map.

Mary:Ok. I’m so excited. It’s been so long since I’ve seen a sunrise on the beach.

MG:Since your dad might worry, let’s just come right back after seeing the sunrise.

Ok.

j came to take mary to the arboretum

D discovers mary is missing

——–

first couple squabble scene

They are in the van/bus

Mary: Oh – the sun already came up.

MG: Did we leave too late?

Mary: The beach is not far away. What a waste.

MG: Ya, but something is strange. We are heading to the beach, but why counldnt we see the sun coming up.  

Mary: that’s right. Oh!

MG: Oh.

They both realize at the same time and say together: Western beach!

Mary: How can you go to a western beach to see the sunrise?

MG: I forgot. Since we were pressed for time, I was just looking for the closest beach.

Mary: What is this? Are you stupid?

MG: Ya-you were next to me looking at a map the whole time telling me to go straight so who was that dimwit.

Mary: Well..that..i was always bad with directions. you were the one driving.

MG: If I’m wrong, are you wrong too? We should correct each other.

Mary: Coming all this way to see a sunrise and not being able to see. It looks I am going to get in trouble for nothing. Let’s go back.

MG: We came all this way, but you just wanna leave?

Mary: I’m afraid my dad might worry that’s why.

MG: [?] ok ok we’ll just turn around then.

bus stalls 

Mary: What is this? Is it broken again?

MG said something about the car and what is wrong with it but I dont even know that term in english so there is no way I am going to know it in korean – all I could make out was the word “indigestion” so I am going to assume that means the car’s engine is flooded?

D is worried about mary

j is calm

D says he is not gonna leave her alone

D calls mary but he has her phone

another spat scene

Mary: So Ra we were on the way to see the sunrise on the beach and things got complicated. Since it turned out this way, could you explain what happened to my father. I’ll just ask for this favor.

MG: How long are you going to let your father [control] you?

Mary:what do you mean by that?

MG:You are I are already dating so why do we need your dad’s permission?

Mary:You’ve already met my dad a few times and you can still say something like that?

MG: He wont give us permission no matter what (so why bother).

Mary:So you’re saying you wont meet with my dad?

MG: your dad [causes trouble/just does whatever he wants].

Mary: Your mom is the one who [causes trouble/does whatever she wants]. Showing up suddenly and asking  to borrow money…

MG: What? Forget it-let’s stop.

Mary: you’re the one who brought up my dad first.

J calls MG’s cell

MG: Who is it?

Mary holds up the cell so MG can see the name 

J: Where are you now? Can we meet and talk?

Mary: I have nothing else to say director.

If you’re with KMG, it’s ok if the three of us meet…

MG to J: Don’t call anymore

MG hangs up

S calls J

she wants to meet

J takes her to a bookstore

he says this place is a arboretum

she said it is dead trees – that kind of arboretum

she picks out a book mg likes

MG and Mary are getting their car fixed

while waiting they fall asleep

After they wake up

Mary: Are you ok?

MG: Uh – how about you?

Mary;I’m ok. I’m sorry

MG: For what?

Mary: I was too sensitive

MG:I was the same-I’m sorry

Mary:We didn’t get any sleep so we were tired so that’s why that happened

MG:That’s true- now that we slept – we’re better

Now when we go back, I won’t be able to see your face-since you are not allowed out

Mary:That’s right- I’m worried about what we should do from here on

MG:Let’s think about it some and go see your father

Mary:Really?

MG:While we get some air-should we think about it?

Mary:yes

MG:What would be a good place to go?

Mary gets up to see a map

Mary: Where are we now?

MG: Hyung, it’s me. I have something to ask. Where is that place we had the rock festival last year? 

d takes her two friends in the car and they say it will be hard to find her

when there are so many beaches

but he says its their fault too for lying

they said they would find out where she is

one calls a band member to ask where MG is

Mary and MG find their lodging site

They are driving down a very picturesque road with trees lining the path all the way to their destination. It’s like a camping site with lodging.

Mary sees it first and points: Wah-this is it! We found it!

MG: We did find it safely

Mary: It’s like we really are very fortunate. We didn’t even have a navigation, but didn’t get lost and still found it ok.

Mg smiles back at her

missed kiss scene

They take their shoes off they both collapse on the floor

Mary: wah-feel like I’m gonna die

It would be nice to sleep like this

MG: [?]

Mary: Why are you looking at me like that?

MG: Because it feels [?] this is the first time we are lying like this

He leans in for a kiss

Wait a minute. It’s so bright it’s embarrassing

The weather is nice – let’s go outside

MG: What’s so great? It’s windy and chilly. (leaning his head on her shoulder) It’s cold, let’s talk inside.

Mary: The sun came out. Let’s [chase the sun]. hurry.

she drags him out

* totally took a stab at the brackets but no clue if it’s right for sure

[no joke – what mary said as soon as she came in is exactly what everyone says when they get in a room and collapse-like every korean of all ages say that phrase “going to die”-it just means they are tired]

J takes S to the market place

it’s her first time there

she almost gets knocked down so he pulls her back

why is he taking her to all mary’s places?

a lady serving them food says J and S make a goodlooking couple

the woman says S is pretty enough to be an actress

S says its comfortable

cuz no one knows her

he says that is why he brought her

family talk scene:

mg and mary ride bikes

they go for a walk

They make a fire

MG: it’s nice huh?

they watch a family nearby barbecuing

Mary: there’s a mom, there’s a dad, they look really happy.

MG: It is – like a complete family. That kid can go with his dad to a men’s sauna

Mary: What is that?

Did you ever dream of having a family like that?

MG: [???] It’s like a scene from a CF. It’s something that can’t happen in my life

Mary: When I thought of a family, that [image] kept popping up. My dream as a child was [?] without a mom, when I saw my lonely father look at me, I thought I should become a good wife, become a good mother

MG: I had a similar [image], but I thought the opposite. Growing up without a dad, couldn’t live with mom, can I raise a good family? Can I become a good father, a good husband?

Mary: Is that why you just dated?

MG: Um-there is no pressure. Meet whenever , breakup whenever

Mary:that’s only when you like them you meet them

MG: Uhm but girls all seem the same. At first they say I’m cool, later on they slowly start to nag.

Mary: Don’t worry, I won’t nag

MG: Really?  musicians ideal is a girl who doesn’t nag

Mary: Teach me the guitar

MG: You wanna learn the guitar?

Mary: Um-I’m a rocker ‘s girlfriend, I should know the basics of guitar

MG: Ok. Then should I teach you starting from the chords? First chord is G

* what MG says works this way too: could i be a good husband, could i be a good dad

also what the holy crap is MG wearing ? is that a lavender furry collar? omg my eyes….

S is playing guitar at J’s office

she talks about her past

how she had almost married cuz of her family

she said she thought even if they didnt marry she thought mg and her

could have been like a married couple

Personal fav daebak scene

While sitting by the fire all cozy, Mary and MG watch an elderly couple passing by

Mary; They look good

MG: They do. That picture looks more real, I’m envious

[To have such a lasting relationship, how many moonrises have to go by]

Mary: it must be difficult with just love.

MG: Then loyalty?

Mary: uhm- If it’s loyalty, it might be possible.

MG: They look like they are loyal.

Mary: It would be nice if we could last a long time with loyalty.

MG: If it’s you-I can picture that.

If you’re tired-should we go in?

Mary: no-I like the way it is now.

It’s like a dream-they way things turned out with you

I want to see the sunset.

MG: Since we didn’t see the sunrise, should we see the sunset and go?

Mary: What do I do about dad?

MG: the only solution is truth. When we go back, let’s try to talk to him.

He kisses her forehead

mg is reading a book while mary naps’

then he goes over to her and kisses her forehead’

he gets sleepy so he sleeps next to her’

When he starts to wake up, MG reaches out for mary

and ends up patting her dad’s squishy tummy

MG gets up in alarm. (I would too -what a nightmare waking up to that belly)

MG calls ou: Mary! Mary!

D replies with sarcasm: It’s a name you can call but there won’t be an answer

MG: Where is Mary?

D: Where do you think? How much did you two [roam] around last night for you two to be dead asleep and not even notice when a person comes in

[While you were sleeping], I took her home

To see the sunrise you went all the way to an eastern beach, so how could you be here?

You did this on purpose [and got lost] to torture me huh?

From now on, don’t even think about seeing our Mary

Back at Mary’s hm, MG and Mary are on their knees

D: You broke off the engagement and [wreaked havoc/brought disaster] on our household and this time it’s [some adjective in front of all-nighter/or something about staying out all night for sure]

MG:It’s not a [?all-nighter]. After we talked, we were going to come here to see you.

Mary: Because of grandfather’s objection, you also [stayed out all night] and got married got married with mom

D: Ah – that family secret …this is a conversation for men (using formal language) so please go inside your room and wait

Mary: Dad- why are you suddenly using formal language on me?

D: (speaking formally again)  I can’t speak informally to someone I am uncomfortable with.

MG remembers that exact line when D was drunk and said it so it cracks MG up again

D; See-he’s doing it again- when a grownup is talking he’s being [disrespectful]-there is no way I can [forgive you or accept] you!

MG: I apologize-please allow [?] father.

D: [? – freeze to death (he is doing a play on words-and rhyming two unrelated words]

How can I be your father-in-law? Leave my house at once!

MG: I’ll be back next time.

D: where do you think you’re coming back to

MG tries to get up but has leg cramps so Mary tends to his legs by hitting it to get circulation back

Mary: Dad you’re so awful

D can’t believe what he is seeing

He gets up to restrain Mary from following MG out

D: where are you going?

Mary:Let go of me dad

D: Where are you going?

Mary: Let me go dad!

D: Won’t let you go “dad”

when mary pulls free she runs out calling for MG

but J is waiting

J says he wants her to go somewhere with him

JS is really sick

—

mg’s mom runs into D -like literally

they recognizes each other

she calls him “merry x-mas papa” which does not sit well with him

D came to see MG cuz mary is gone

and D thinks mary is here

he tells the mom what MG did- taking his daughter on an overnight trip

he insults her way of raising her child

she does the same

she starts crying about how hard it was being pregnant with mg

d gets all sympatheic

now they are bonding over the pain they both went thru raising a child alone

mg hears crying

his mom asks D to be nice to mg

d asks her to let mary marry someone like j

MG walks out and tells his mom not to cry cuz it’s embarrassing

d says he will let mg go and trust him since mg’s mom said mary is not there

j finds out that mary is turning down his offer

to keep pretending

j asks mary not to tell his dad

cause  shock or stress is not good for him

since JS likes mary J asks mary to lie for his dad’s sake

JS says he likes it when mary smiles

he says she looks like her mom when she smiles

she says she will visit often

he says it will be good when she becomes J’s wife

band is talking about how they have been doing this for ten yrs and

they cant afford to support a gf or afford to get married

that its hard to find someone who wants to marry a rocker

mg texts his mom “I miss you”

MG and his mom are at his place

he asks how her departure preparations are going since there is less than a month left 

mom:Have to sell the café first. What’s up? calling me first.

Mom-are you not going to marry?

mom: You-[all of a sudden]-marriage?

MG: Just…cuz I was curious.

mom: You know…dont want to tied down… have no confidence…also scared…

MG: ..that’s why..

mom continues: but these days-maybe cuz I am getting older..it’s lonely..I worry about when I am a grandma and no one is by side what am I going to do…that’s why I am going with him to paris…but honestly I don’t know about the future….

MG: i’m here  for you mom…

mom: that’s why….but what do we do with you

MG remembers his conversation with mary by the fire where she talks about lasting with loyalty and him saying he could picture a life with her

Declaration of love scene

Mary comes home

D: this girl- where have you been?

Mary: To ahjussi.

D: What wind took you over there? (no joke he said that word for word)

did you have a change of heart towards J?

Mary: director was in front of the house and took me there-that’s all.  The way I feel towards MG will never change so don’t count on it

D: What? Mary Mary

he follows her into her room

Mary-Please I am asking you – break up with him.

Dad be honest. What is it about Mg that you don’t like?

What do I not like? Two eyes, one nose, one mouth that is what I don’t like.

Dad.

I hate everything about him.

He is the first person I’ve come to love. Cant you try to understand me?

Then are you saying you’re getting married?

We just started so how can you talk about marriage so soon.

You’re not kids. If you don’t get married, why meet?

So if we decide to get married are you going to give permission?

No. no way-not that guy. He’s a total playboy. He’s going to play around with you and end it. and you’ll be the only one hurt.

Dad, up till now it was a fake marriage and we didn’t love each other, but now it’s different. MG will honestly do his best

No I cant trust him. Mary…love is.. you have to receive love in order to give love, but that guy won’t do. He’s too dark.

It’s cuz you don’t know him well dad. mg is really adorable and loving.

*{it’s cuz you cant see what’s before your eyes cuz it’s covered} if you keep doing this, you’ll lose your chance with J.

it doesn’t matter. I don’t want to lose my first love [arguing over what I should want*].

Mary first love isn’t meant to be.

You and mom were meant to be.

That’s why your mom was unhappy—[because she was blinded by her first love and didn’t look ahead] and met someone like me.

What’s so bad about you dad?

Mary you cant live [50yrs] with love.The only thing your dad wants is your happiness.

Dad when I am with MG I am so happy. this is the first time I’ve felt this way since I was born. You know dad.  All this time, how much i lived[suffering]. I lived without having time to dream or love. From now on, I want to live having dreams and loving someone–um?

[ really not sure about the 50yrs part but i heard it like 30 times and now that’s all i hear-it’s gonna be like that diamond thing all over again i bet] 

also she said “jo-kun” which means “condition” but it didnt fit well so maybe “circumstances” would be better*

last line killed me: more options

from now on, I want to dream and love

I want to live dreaming and loving from now on

* he used a korean idiom about beans but the meaning i put is accurate

this scene took over an hour

S is back on with the drama and meets with J

she says that the actor had planned to take the contract

money and avoid doing the drama

she warns J that the actor is going to keep

looking for excuses to run away so J should be careful

the actor comes back from his overseas work

and came straight from the airport to check out the set

manager bang points out that J didnt spend much money

on it 

the actor says that it would be cold

to shoot there in the winter and asks J to

turn the heat up cuz he cant act when it’s cold

S says all sets are the same and he should stop being

such a baby about

j says he plans to keep MG as music producer

and asks if she will be uncomfortable with MG around

when MG comes back to produce

she acts all innocent and says “why would I” and says she

is not going to think about anything but work

(famous last words…she calls kissing MG like that focusing on the drama? arghhhh)

manager bang says S and J look too close

that another scandal would be bad

she complains about the set too

mg and mary talk on the phone as he leaves the academy

she is working with the scriptwriter

she asks if he ate dinner

he says he wants to eat her soup

she said she would make it for him after she gets off work

she tells him to hurry home

Mg hangs up and remembers D’s words about how mary needs to get married

J shows up at his academy

they have coffee

j wants to talk about work but today he wants to talk first about mary

he asks if mg is ready to marry

j says he is ready

j says he is her legal husband

he has to end it for this marriage to end

mg thinks about what mary and what  j said as he walks hm

s waits at his house to return the guitar pick

he tells her to throw it away

she tosses it to the ground

she said she will stop hanging out with him as friends

and not think about him all the time and

not come looking for him

Mg also adds for her to stop showing up

without notice too

she says: ok, I’ll say my last farewell and go

and kisses him for a long freaking time

HE DOES NOT PULL AWAY AT ALL

mary comes carrying groceries and sees them kissing

end

when you break up-arent you suppose to NOT want to kiss them anymore???argggghhhhh

what was he thinking letting her kiss for that long???????

he better not have done that on purpose to drive mary away or something

but it didnt look like he saw mary there

did anyone watch this??? did he know mary was there?????

i was thinking he was gonna propose and that is how they would end the episode

boy was I off
